FH and I both have really big families, so if we had a normal engagement party it would be around 100 people and since we're doing it at my mom's house that is just not happening.
So instead we decided to keep it small - immediate families, grandparents, and our close friends. Even just doing that will be around 30 people and we're not even going to call it an engagement party since we don't want ppl to feel like they have to give a gift.
We're probably going to ask people to be in our bridal party then - but is it rude to invite some of our good friends if they're not in it? I don't know if they'll be more offended if I don't invite them to the party, or if I do invite them and then they feel left out.
The people not in the BP are my guy friends and their girlfriends, so I don't know if they'd really care.

Re: Non-Engagement Party?
I would say invited them.... I'm sure they would be happy just to be invited and I'm sure the whole party won't be about the bridal party... I'm having a BBQ for my engagement party so that it's something informal and with just close family and close friends I have 100 people

Re: Non-Engagement Party?
I think you should invite them..I'm sure they'll understand that you can't have EVERYONE in your bridal party and will understand why you choose the people you did. I could see a friend not having me in the BP, but if I wasn't invited to the party at all I might get a little hurt...

Re: Non-Engagement Party?
I think that's what an engagement party should be- immediate family and the bridal party.

I would say invite them! As long as they're being invited to the wedding, why not!

Well by immediate family I just mean our parents, brothers and sisters. It's when we start inviting aunts and uncles and cousins that the number goes to about 90.
