Once again my mother is jumping the gun and starting to drive me alil on the crazy side LOL
only a few of our guests are OOT my family lives in Brooklyn we are getting married in L.I. so we are blocking rooms at a near by hotel. Last night my mother called me to ask me about 'welcome bags' for the hotel room. When I said I didn't need them since its not needed she bit my head off.
Since its just people pretty much crashing at the hotel for the night do I 'need' the bags in the hotel?

Welcome bags are nice but they're never something that you NEED. Even if you have tons of OOT guests like we do.
But if it's important to your mom, why not let her handle them? Give her free reign to do whatever she wants!
Good call.
There is no rule that says you have to have them. Its an extra touch that some people choose to do but it certainly doesnt make or break your wedding!

I AGREE....THERE ARE NO SET RULES, BUT IF YOU DECIDE TO DO IT, YOU SHOULD GIVE YOUR MOM THE TASK...IT MIGHT HELP HER FEEL INVOLVED AND KEEP HER BUSY FOR A WHILE AND OUT OF YOUR HAIR!!!

Re: non-OOTG and welcome bags?
Yea I think ill just tell my mom that if she's so for them she can do it. If I had a lot of people coming from all over or a DW I would totally do them. But for just going to a wedding a half hour away seems silly and I'd rather put that money toward something else.
thanks girls!

Re: non-OOTG and welcome bags?
I personally am doing OOT bags but NOT for my local pals who are like choosing to crash for the night. we are making them for my OOT guests who are actually flying in or driving from far away and HAVE to take on the expense as a thank you and special treat! i def dont think they are necessary for either though, just a nice perk!

I'm doing OOT bags just because we have a lot of people coming from out of state.

out of town bags are LOVELY, but I've been an out of towner at every wedding I've ever attended as an adult... and I've NEVER received one. so they're not NEEDED

Re: non-OOTG and welcome bags?
If I had any out of state guests I would totally make the bags, I think they are adorable and really sweet but I don't have any. And I wouldn't consider Brooklyn to long island out of town LOL
next time my mom brings it up I'll just tell her 'if you feel like its needed so badly I give you full permission to make them to your liking' LOL

if you have room in the budget you can do a little bag with goodies like candy etc....but only if its in your budget....its not necessary i dont think

Re: non-OOTG and welcome bags?
They are a lot of fun My friend did one and I was only from Nassau and the wedding was in suffolk. I got so excited to open it and see whats inside--I had never gotten one before.
I might do them, but I only have like 5 couples from out of town and they might not even stay at a hotel.....so we shall see.

You don't need them.. but they are cool to get when you check in.. but again totally up to you.
Most of my OOT guests are Brooklyn people and we are doing them because I think its a nice touch but I wouldn't expect them for a wedding I was staying over at.
We aren't including things to do or places around the hotel because everyone is staying over for the one night (even those traveling far) so its bascially water, snacks, tylenol and stuff like that.
