We are not getting married at a church and our officiant will do a quick run through of the ceremony on the day of the wedding, so we don't need a traditional rehearsal. However, we'd still like to have a dinner before the wedding to thank the bridal party and give them their gifts. Is there anything specific we should be doing at this dinner? I've also heard of the bridal brunch where the bride gives her girls her gifts. Do people do this and if so do you do both the brunch for the girls only and then the dinner for everyone? What are you all doing?

Non-Rehearsal Dinner
im just doing the rehearsal in my moms backyard (unless there is no party at our hall, but it's only 5 mins away) with a pizza party or catered italian. it's only the BP, so it should be fun but not too crazy!
I'm not quite up to planning this part yet, but FSIL is having the BMs over the day of the rehearsal to treat us to lunch and mani/pedis and I think give our gifts. Then we'll go to the rehearsal (which is at a church) and my parents are hosting the dinner after. So I think it's absolutely okay to do both!

Non-Rehearsal Dinner
I'm having the same issue, I think we're just going to have a pre-wedding dinner. I told FH it's still a rehearsal so everyone can rehearse being nice to each other (we have some frenemies, bad exes, etc in the BP). My wedding is actually the first non-church wedding I'll be attending and when I found out I didn't get a rehearsal I was like 'WTH?' It was inconceivable to me!
