Non traditional registries

Hi everyone!

I hope you don't mind if I repost this from 09 Brides. Just needed some opinions. Thanks!

FH and me are pretty much stocked between our two places on basic things (we've got fully stocked kitchens, towels, sheets -- of course I think there can never be enough blankets in a house!)

Anyway, I'm tired of apartment living, so we're looking to buy a house.

What we REALLY need are things for a house: lawnmover, rakes, furntiure.

Would people get insulted if we registered at Home Depot or Loews? After all..that's the stuff we REALLY need.

if you're worried about people thinking it's weird, which i don't think it is, you could always go w/ Sears (technically a department store).

You definitely can....it's still stuff for your house....we are thinking of registering for Kayaks at REI, so if we can do that, you can register for a lawnmower!

Do it! People are going to give you gifts and they are going to want guidance. if you were in their position, you'd want to give a couple something they'll need or want, right? That's what they want to do for you.

I think it's a great idea to register at Home Depot or Loews. You will always needs things from there. I love Home Depot, we are always going there for stupid little stuff. But I definately think its a great idea.

Sears has a lot of that stuff. Don't forget a BBQ grill if they have any in stock!
