Non-traditional wedding dress

My fiance and I are planning an informal afternoon garden wedding in May for less than 50 people. What does everyone think about a wedding dress that isn''''t white or off-white? I saw a gorgeous chiffon dress that was light blue and light coral with a little beading. Is this acceptable for a wedding that we want to be more of a party that we happen to get married at than anything else?

Non-traditional wedding dress

Go for it. I heard of alot of people that are oping for non-traddtional dresses. I am not sure about Coral, but I heard of pale pinks, blues, and yellows...pastels. As long as you keep it in the pastel family, I think your safe. Traditionally, White dresses signified purity, I think pastels are acceptable because they too are 'innocent colors'.

Non-traditional wedding dress

I think a coral dress would be beautiful. Really anything other than a dark color would be appropriate and lovely for a garden wedding. Good luck.

Non-traditional wedding dress

I say ITS YOUR DAY. You can wear polka dots if it makes you happy. I am sure you will be radiant either way!!!

Non-traditional wedding dress

I agree with Jennyb! Wear whatever you want. Who cares if you don't have a traditional wedding dress? It's your day! Go crazy!

Whatever makes you feel like a princess

You should wear whatever makes you feel special. When you look in the mirror you should glow and smile. Coral is a beautiful color for a wedding gown. And I think a garden wedding is the perfect place to wear a dress like that. Have a great time planning.

White gowns are pretty recent

White gowns came into fashion when Queen Vicotria wore one for her wedding. Before that, you wore whatever was your 'best' dress. So the tradition isn't that old.

Non-traditional wedding dress

Thank you all so much for your positive responses! I am much more confident now wearing a non-traditional dress. I agree that the bride should wear whatever will make her feel beautiful. Thanks again!
