Normal to require dress balance before trying MY dress on?

Normal to require dress balance before trying MY dress on?

So, I got the call that my dress is in, yay! And when I made an appt to go and try it on I was told that I must pay the balance at that point. This seems odd to me. I used to work in a bridal store and we required the balance to be paid prior to alterations being performed.

So, is this normal? Any reasons I should be wary? Thanks!

(Dress is at Helen's in Commack, they will keep the dress for me until my fittings this Spring).

I was under the impression that we pay the remaining balance the day we bring the dress home. I could be mistaken since my paperwork is at home, but I'm 99% sure that's how it goes. Granted, this is a different shop, but I think most of them would work that way.

Hmmm, I have to look at my receipt when I go home. I can afford to pay it now, but I'm just not sure if I should hold off for any reason. I'll still have to pay for alterations in a few months.

I never heard of that? I paid my balance with alterations...I used the wedding salon of manhasset.

I would question them of this...

I went in to try my dress on a few weeks ago. They didn't say anything about paying the balance. I looked at my recipt and its due at my first fitting.

I would call again and double check. I also got my dress from Helen's and i am supposed to go see it this Saturday (originally had appt for 12/19 but cancelled b/c of snowstorm). I spoke to Liz (who i worked with when i first went there) both times and she never mentioned that I had to pay the balance before seeing my dress.

I had checked with her when I ordered my dress and again in October when I showed other family members the dress and she said we do not need to make final payment until alterations are done and that won't be til June. Call them again and ask for Liz. Please fm me if u call so I know for my appt. Thanks

i went to try on my dress and they told me the balance was due at my 2nd fitting. i guess that differs from shop to shop.

I also purchased my dress from Helen's in Commack.

I believe I paid the balance when I went in for my first fitting.

I was told that my balance was due after my fittings before I take the dress home.
