North Ritz Brides-

Did any of you block hotels rooms off by the NR? If so, which ones would you recommend? How far in advance?

Also, I heard the North Ritz had a New Years Eve party last night!! Anyone go or know anyone who did?

I blocked rooms at the Melville Marriot, $120 a night for June. I also checked out the Huntington Hilton which was more expensive, and Holiday Inn at Plainview which was the same price as Marriot but not as nice. There is also the Inn at Fox Hollow which is very nice, also a little more expensive. There are smaller hotels in the area which might be less expensive but I wanted to use a well known chain hotel. The rates will also be better if you are not getting married in the summmer.

We are also staying at the Inn at Fox Hollow on the night of our wedding.

we blocked rooms at the Inn at fox hollow ($189), the Executive inn ($99) and looking into Econolodge ($85) for people want a cheaper place. The fairfield inn wanted $135 and believe me the executive inn and best wester were much nicer. I think best western wanted either $109 or $119 can't remember. The executive inn you also get a extented continetal (sp?) breakfast that includes eggs and stuff. We checked out all the rooms except at Econolodge and felt comfortable sending family there. Yea they did have a New Years Eve Party last night. My friend told me that one room was with greek music and the other was american. My family and I really wanted to go (esp. since I am getting married there next year) but we found out last night (last minute) from one of my friends. I think that they should have sent out a mailing or at least an email to all NRC brides to let us know about the party. I am a little annoyed that they didn't let their brides know about it .
Edited to addI am thinking about calling them and suggesting to them (in a nice way) that they should sent out a mailing or something next year. I got a Christmas card from them. Maybe they could have included some info. in the card??

Your right they should have sent it out with the x-mas cards. we were almost going to go but went to a place in patchoque instead because it was cheaper and our friends lived out there. Really wished we had went to NRC!!!!

OCT - Where did you hear about it? I ran into a friend of mine yesterday and she told me about. It really s u c k s because my family and I (about 12 people) were looking for a place to go for New Year's Eve and we wanted greek music but we didn't want to go to Astoria (too far). Sorry to vent, I just really wished they would have sent me something to let me know!!!!!!
Plus, they had the DJ that I am having at my E-party next month. It would have been a great opp. to taste the food too!! But oh well, there's always next year!

I'm dealing with my blocking rooms dilemna right now. I wanted to block the Inn at Fox Hollow, but when I found out how much the rooms were and that they didn't have a bar, I decided to go with the Garden City Hotel, who gave me the same price and has a bar and a club! The reason this is a dilemna is because my Mom and a few other family members still think the price is a bit too high since people will be laying out alot of money to attend the wedding in the first place. I wanted to do a morning brunch with my overnight guests and I really want my whole family to stay at the hotel, so now I will continue my search. I may just end up booking the Garden City hotel regardless!

I used the Holiday Inn in Plainview. It was about a 5-8 minute drive, has a bar and restaurant and the block price was $109. I had a great experience with them. We had about 30 rooms booked so I wanted to keep it very reasonable but I definitely wanted a hotel that had a bar for after the reception. I rented a shuttle bus to shuttle my guests back and forth.

PS I guess they don't send Christmas cards to those that recently got married there! I give them such good press they should have given me a card!!!!!

I got a Christmas Card from them, but nothing about the New Years Eve Party. It would have been nice-great chance to taste the food & service, but it was a probably expensive, right? o well too late now!

As far as blocking out hotel rooms is concerned, I am not sure if I will have to do this- but I will probably go with the Inn @ Fox Hollow, and I swear there is a Best Western around there somewhere-i think further west on jericho trpke.

It was $100 per person...unlimited drinks, sit down dinner, dessert. I don't think that price it too bad.
