i've only been on an overnight cruise to nowhere with norwegian and pretty much hated all of the food. if you look at reviews (check out orbitz or whatnot), you'll see about 50% of the people agree with me.

just something to think about.

what are you looking for in terms of nightlife?

I've been on two NCL cruises and loved them both. I've also been on Princess and hated it. Nightlife is shows, dance club, and casino. Check out Cruise Critic for reviews.

FH refuses to go on Norwegian. He has heard too many horror stories.

I know someone who loved going on NCL, but her level of food taste is very questionable. I have never been on a cruise, but FH has been on Royal and he loves it. We are going on Celebrity for our HM, I hear great things about them.

i've done two ncl cruises, and the food is good if you go to the specialty restaurants (the places where you pay a cover charge) we tried the general dining room once, and did not like the food at all.

in terms of nightlife, i never really found there to be any outside of the shows. so i wouldn't recco if you are looking for a really cool scene at night.

Iv'e been on two Nowegian and to be honest the nightlife was not that good.
On both ships there was only one good act on each. One was a hypnotist and one was a juggling comedian.
I walked out on a few other shows during those crusies. Lame Lame Lame
ALTHOUGH--- I found the food to be really good
From what I heard Royal is the best for all types of people. They make sure to accomodate everyone's tastes.
Which boat/cruise were you thinking about going on?

WOW everyone didn't like the food. Maybe the two ships I was on had a really good head chef. I think that makes a big difference! I did not like the food on the last Royal cruise that I went on. But the one that I took 3 years ago was exceptional!

I've never taking a NCL cruise before, or any cruise actually lol but I'm taking one for the HM...I'm a little worried because of the mixed reviews but the NCL itinerary of ports was better than the Royal

We went on one in August and we loved it. Granted, we ate at the specialty restaurants only so I can't comment on dinners in the dining room, but the food we had was great. We also really liked that we could eat whenever we wanted and not stick with a set dining time.

ok..so ive been on about 5 or 6 cruises with ncl. i used to swear by them... then this past thanksgiving i went on royal....

then on jan 2nd i went back on ncl for a 1 nighter... i just felt.. BLAH.. the portions on NCL are SMALL.. i told Dianna of LouieDianna Inc. to order 5 appetizers cuz they are SMALL>. she giggled.

but when the fried calamari app came out and there were literally 4 rings.. im like.. i told you sooooooooooooooo! lol the portions are TINY but u can order as much as u want..

food quality is better on ROYAL!! buffet is better on NCL.

ncl u can eat whenever u want.... but then u have to juggle show times..

on royal u have specific dinning time..and u are usually seated with the same ppl.......BUT shows are planned AROUND dinner..so u dont miss ANYTHING!!!
shows are better on royal. comedy especially! we had 2 commedians on royal..and they were soo funny.. but i cried in the end cuz they both were so phenominal and they gave a lil speech at the end.. blah lol

also.. ncl charges u for everyyyyything.. nwo with this new ship EPIC... theres a club and parts of the pooland an ice bar that u have to PAY to go to?! uhm how about NO!

stick with royal.

if the deal is sooooooooooooo good on ncl.. iwould prob cruise with them again...but im going to try not to

oh as far as entertainment by the pool.. there is non. i usually bring a rubber ducky and entertain peoplethat way. i start up pool games cuz it gets soo BORING.

clubs?? depends when u go.. if schools are off.. theres more of a younger crowd...and more partying. so you cant fualt the cruise line for that

I would NOT recommend Princess. I've done two NCL cruise. And one Princess cruise. Princess was not good at all. The food was blah, the entertainment was boring, and the seating at dinner took forever.

I am going on part of my HM with Royal so I'm excited to try that cruise line. I've heard alot of good things about it. And they start the My Time Dining which is you can eat when you want. This is one of the things I originally loved about NCL.

Yup. We did Anytime Dining for Princess. We had to wait usually a half hour or more for a table for 2, because they try to do the group tables mostly.

I don't think I'd go on a Princess ship again, but if it were the only one going to the place I wanted, then I'd reconsider. Many people have different opinions, so please don't take just mine. Check out Cruise Critic. I have the same screen name on those boards, and the people there are as helpful about cruises as all you girls are about weddings.
