not a great day - gonna need a boost....

not a great day - gonna need a boost....

Well I guess all new mommies come to this - where they are just over-tired and out of ways to make the baby stop crying. We had a rough night last night. Sophia ended up falling asleep at my boob after hours of fussiness, which just made me feel like a big tired cow with no control or ownership of my own body. My husband slept like a baby through all this which further irritates my mood this morning. I don't know what I expect him to do, but it just seems so unfair that I am the only one that can soothe her.

I just sat there wondering what happened to my life. I know - depressing. ( For a reprieve go look at Elizabeth's little Lukie in the snow!) I guess I am just feeling like I am doing everything wrong. I wish like hell she'd just sleep in her stroller or bassinet or something - we are still in this pattern of sleeping in the glider, or on the boppy on my lap in the bed. I know she's little and young and needs me nearby...

I think i am feeling really housebound with this weather. We only have one car right now (DH is in the shop because some A-HOLE sideswiped his car while he was getting out of it and actually TOOK THE DOOR OFF ) so when my husband leaves for work I am really stuck here. Plus it's been so cold and snowy I haven't been able to take her out besides the pediatrician. I feel like I wont' even know how to attach her carseat to her stroller when it comes time. UGH - I need to find a new attitude today!!!!!!

This is perfectly normal. Any woman who says it was a breeze is a LIAR or has a REALLY bad memory. I can remember crying to my husband that I can't do it. I don't know what he wants ect....(my problem was my son was getting enough milk from me. So, I had to go to formula)
Have you thought of either pumping or giving your baby both breastmilk & formula? That way your husband can help out? I'm sure he would love to help (mine did) As much as you feel like whatever your doing isn't enough. He's probably feeling useless. Because he might think that 'Well I cant produce milk what else could I do?'
I hope this helps!! Lots of hugs!!

Best advise...When baby naps SO DOES MOMMY!!! The dishes, laundry, cooking ect... can be done later!!

What you're feeling is totally normal!!! I went through that (not the boob/BF part) when Gianna was a couple of weeks old and had her days and nights mixed up! We (me and her) spent many nights walking the floors while Daddy slept through her screaming (have no clue how when she's loud enough to wake the dead )!!!

Unfortunately it comes with the territory, but it does get better!!! I know the weather doesn't help right now, but it's supposed to nice over the weekend, so make sure you get out!!!!

Hang in there!! This too shall pass!!!

Oh Jenny. Lots of hugs to you girl.

First of all, your feelings are normal. I have been where you are with Briana. I also wanted to kick my husband where it hurts because he was enjoying his sleep while I felt like exploding. Hopefully, it's a one night situation, and you get some better sleep.

And this too shall pass. Please nap while she does today. You deserve the rest and the baby can tell a happy mommy from a cranky one.

I hear you Jenny...I am still BF and many a nights I am up with her and Daddy is sound asleep in the same room....then when I get upset and tell him the next morning about my night..he says 'I heard you, I was up!!!' I am like WHAT!!!!! you were playing possum?????? WTF!!

I know he can't do a thing to soothe her because she want's Mommy's boob ,but if your up then stay up with us! It's very frustrating. I know exactly what you are feeling. Hang in there it will get better and it justs adds to the stress when your stuck in the house due to this horrible weather!

Re: not a great day - gonna need a boost....

thanks guys. I know it will pass - I can already feel it will be a better day as she's sleeping in her stroller right now! I want to be patient for her, I guess I just run out and need replenishment.

For me, I think the weather is playing a big part. I am the most 'un-stay at home' type. I dont' even like to sit on the couch and read a book - it's just not my thing. I wish I did, this would be a lot easier. But I am out of my mind antsy!!! And I can only do so much around the house while holding her....

Thanks for listening and for the advice! You guys are great!

Are there any places you can go in your area where mothers meet to get out of the house etc??? Hugs to you Jen

PS are there no family members on either side close to you and hubby that can come by and give you a little time out. All mommies need it.

Totally normal Jenny as everyone has already said!!!!

I must admit I finally gave in a nd just have Damien sleep in our bed. Steve laughs because when he wakes up for work I am always sleeping with my boob out and ready for insertion

I know everyone says don't let them sleep in your bed. But it is working for us and I don't feel a bit guilty

I know when the time comes to move him into his crib it is going to be beyond hard but for now we are doing what works for us. If I am exhasted I am of no use to anyone. This way we all get the sleep we need

here are some

Ah yes, I can remember hearing Steve's snores while I tried to hush my boy.

You know it will pass, Jenn! I'm sorry you had a crummy night, though. Before you know it, the warm weather will be here and you'll be out every day!!

Re: not a great day - gonna need a boost....

I am soo sorry jenny- I remember what it was like...as I was home on Matern leave this time last year..and we were snowed in quite a bit.

there is nothing more frustrating then a crying baby at 1am, 2am, 3am...who can onlyh turn to you for food..and DH sleeps through it all.
at least get up guys and change the baby...then bring them to us to feed...let us THINK you are part of the BF process.

my 2nd week hom emy MIl stayed with us...and every time i got up to feed her...she got up too and sat next to me...got my a glass of water...etc. maybe it's selfish for us to ask- but we need our hubbies to do this every once in a while at night!

bundle up baby, put her int he stroller and go for a walk around the block. That is what I did with Julianne and YES it was damn cold. but she was more bundled than I and she actually looked forward to these little walks.

my dr told me that I should not take her to the malls until she was at least 2 months old...because of all the people germs...their immunity is not built up yet...but walks outside were ok as long as her head was covered and she was bundled up

I hope this helps you a little bit
I know I was stir crazy too..and couldn't count the hours away fast enud until hubby came home. I felt like a prisoner on some days..
keep it up with trying to get her to sleep in the stroller (again, the walks may help with this)...I would even walk her jsut around the front of my house to calm her down a bit)...
I am sure you have tried this, but rock or tap the bassinnet to get her to sleep, try running a humifier...good for moist air and for WHITE NOISE that sometime comforts them to nap...

thats all i can think of now....it does get better..but in time

have a friend/family member watch her for an hour..go for a walk or get your nails done...you will feel better and be better able to handle her

hugs

Jenny- you are a great mom! We are always here for you to reassure you that you are normal and that tomorrow will be a better day.

Your honesty is really appreciated. It helps everyone to know it is okay to say that you are not perfect.

Re: not a great day - gonna need a boost....

Jenny, dontcha worry, EVERYONE has gone through this to some extent. I remember wanting to cry after I had just Lanolin-ed my boobs and they were JUST getting a little better and John came over with a crying and hungry baby ready to latch back on
You feel bad feeling bad, but its just an overwhelming feeling where you want YOU back, and you want to just be alone for a minute or two, or three

I thought I was ALONE in SOOO being the NOT-stay at HOME type.. Watching tv, reading a book, is SO not me.. and when Im homebound it drives me nuts
This weather doesnt make things any easier as far as getting out...
For some reason I was remembering my last pregnancy, I was driving around locally even past my due date (just a day or two )
and this time, I have 4 weeks to go, and I feel exhausted and ready to go into labor after 2 hours of leaving the house!
I guess that tells me a summer pregnancy is easier, in my own opinion. All this bundling up, trekking through the snow, AND carrying a toddler thats fighting being carried (thus weighing TWICE As much ) makes it all more tiring

So hang in there mommy. Youre in GOOD company!
Hope to meet you at a GTG soon!

Oh Jenny, believe me you are not alone. I felt the same way so many times. Sometimes I still feel that way!! I wonder if I am doing things 'right' and how I will know how to do things when they come up...but somehow it really truly does all work itself out! When you are tired everything is magnified like a million times...just know that what you are going through is what every single new Mommy goes through! I am going stir crazy right now myself too with this damn weather! s to you!! Just cuddle that beautiful baby and enjoy these moments as best you can! Belive me, 8 months later I am still asking 'What happened to my life?' but then I know what happened - the greatest gift ever - my son! Enjoy it...before we know it, they'll be all grown up!!
