Anyone else feel like vendors dont take you seriously when you say you're getting married in 2010? I've had vendors hear that and just ignore me at expos, its gotten so bad the FH has been lying to vendors saying we're getting married next year, anyone else having this problem?

I've had that problem before. Thats when I say I wont be needing your services and walk away. Its so frustrating but at least you know which vendors really care about your wedding...

So far I haven't had that problem, but for those that don't want to talk to you obviously they are not worth booking or looking further into for your wedding

Re: not being taken seriously?
I had some vendors tell me 'oh you are so far away, you dont need to book now' and I have had others that told me 'oh you are so smart to book now, lock in the prices.'
Somethings it may be too early, like Flowers, but the rest of it, I am hearing of a lot of things booking already. I had the head of one expo call me out and tease me for being a 2010 bride, and then the vendors were thrilled to talk with me, one said please book so I know I will have work in 2010.
Needless to say, didnt take his info lol

I agree, that's really unprofessional and if they're going to react that way, they don't deserve your business!

Hello girls, an 06 here. I was engaged in 2003 and received the same line BS you ladies are receiving. However if you persist you can talk them into some great deals because you are starting early. Don't let them get you down. Just a tip!

I'm actually kind of scared of that happening to me thats why photography is the only other thing I'm booking this year (by the summer). Everything else early next year.

they are probably doing that bc they prefer for you to wait and book lets say next year bc most vendors raise their prices every year

Re: not being taken seriously?
I'm the MOH in my Best Friend's wedding, and I go with her and her FH to the Showcases & Halls as a personal assistant ^^; So, when we go to places and they can be all starstruck by This and That, I'm the one watching Facial expressions, tone of voice and what not. And at Windows On The Lake, the I suppose Manager of the location was a complete and utter ***. He was Rude, he was Obnoxious, He was a Lieing ******* and a complete snob. We were going around, getting general prices to shop & Compare and such, and we came in, there was no events going on, no customers, so it was just us. YOu would think ' Oh this is great, we have the place to ourselves.' DIdn't matter. Coming up the stairs, the loook was nice, the receptionist a pretty, dumb blonde x.x the BM comes out after we say afew words on why we're there, We mention first it was 2011 and he just Blew Up on us! ' I have No prices for you! I have No brochures, No list, Nothing ! I am Not taking any Bookings At all!' He went on and on for like 10 Minutes, till he as an angry looking red faced Dwarf. I've never seen anyone So damned Mad at us for getting prices. And I live in Ronkonkoma, I have all my life, and I see nothing special about that place. The building is nice, but the Landscaping is Extreamly Tiny, The parking is Horrible And you have to step around the Canadian Geese who think they own the place.
Meh.. My poor friends had to even Up their wedding a year to 2010 and she's still getting the looks. So far The Watermill & Crest Hollow are two amazing Halls with Onsite Ceramonies with Pricing in 2010 & 2011 that wont break you. And as for a Vendor, I'd Reccomend MME, They do It all, DJ, Lighting, Flowers, Photography, Videography and more. They were honest, they were Nice, fun, easy to talk to. Just all around great people ^^
So, for all you 2010 Brides, SCrew the Nay Sayers, Theres still plenty vendors out there who are More than willing to have your business and make deals, just keep on going! And have a friend with you to help you with it all, its a much easier way for you to go. =3

So far I have not had that problem...However if I did encounter this problem I would probably just walk away from the vendor and think to myself that he just lost out on a customer...I also wouldnt want to book a vendor like this because if they dont want to book for 2 years in advance then I would think they these vendors arent going to be around anyway...

hey girls! 09 bride here! Just thought I would share some of my advice...anyways, you girls do have alot of time to shop and decide what you like which is good. I would def look around and get ideas but there are certain things that you do have a lot of time for! I would book the important venders first like teh RH, Photog, and DJ as far as flowers and stuff liek that you can DEF wait...the styles change and your taste can change. just my opinion, I would also wait because you never know what can change with venders...ex, you book a photog bc you love this guys work well you have 2 years...what if the photog you loved no longer works there or the company changed and itsnt getting as good reviews??? or you book a band or dj bc of a particular singer or MC and in 2 years they arent there anymore?? I wouldnt want to risk that! so I would def go to shows and talk to people, see their work, get pice ideas...but I would be very careful about booking these places so far in advance! alot can change in 2 years. good luck and happy planning!!

Re: not being taken seriously?
vendors who react snotty to us dont deserve our business...just because we are getting married in 2010 it doesnt make us any less of a bride than someone getting married in 09.
