Not doing a favor?

Not doing a favor?

Is anyone not doing a favor? I read this in a magazine I got yesterday quoted from an event planner that the gift to your guests is the celebration/party itself & shouldn't have to get them a favor that will just be wasted. This has me second guessing myself. Do I buy the $150+ in favors &/or donations or just skip it?

We're not doing a favor technically - we're having a candy buffet.

We didn't want to give some nick nack or something our guests will not be able to use. We did think about cupcakes, or truffles. We're still unsure, but will probably donate to a few charities. One being Susan G Komen and get something from Feel Your Boobies for the tables. My MOH mom had passed away from breast cancer, and we would like to honor her.

I am doing a favor. I looked at it like, what is another 150 when I have spent so much already? Also, I am Italian and my family members would be pissed if they didn't get a little something, which I know is ridiculous, but that is how they roll.
Most people couldn't care less about a favor so it is totally up to you and what you are comfortable doing.

Yeah I think most of the family & friends would probably be questioning 'wheres my favor?' I know we'll probably wind up doing it but I was shocked that an event planner would say skip it glad I'm my own event planner then lol

Thats exactly what I'm trying to do is find something usefull that they wont just throw out or toss in a corner somewhere but something cute & senseable

eta: sorry about your MOH mother thats very sweet of you to do that in her honor!!!

We are also doing a donation, we are giving to the American Heart Association bc FH dad and uncle both passed away of heart attacks way too young We might do little red bracelets with the AHA logo as something tangible to give our guests, maybe you could do something like that? That way your $ is going to a good cause and your guests are satisfied?

im doing a charitable donation to the MS society which has meaning to us

cause myself, my FFIL, and a my coworkers wife (who is coming to the wedding) all have it.

We are having as an 'extra' special pb&j rainbow cookies from my girlfriends bakery being set out as a dessert ( along with cake and other cookies)

if you do a favor, do something practical
or something that has meaning

but if it's just like almonds in a bag... skip it

no one needs a trinket to sit on a shelf ya know?

save the money

We are doing the candy buffet along with our photobooth. The bottom frame of the photostrip is going to have our names, wedding date, and note from us to the guests.

I didn't do a favor.. I always have thought wedding favors are kind of cheesey.

Not one person has said a word to me about it being missing.

definitely having a favor.

we are doing a photobooth too. hopefully people will put that to use and take some pictures home. FBIL is a DJ and has a few photobooths, so he's letting us use one.

We are doing donations after my cousin died of lukiemia at 23 yrs old in the fall I felt it would mean a lot more to make a donation to the cancer society in my grandfathers name, my cousins name, our BM wifes mother, and my fmil since they all suffer or passed due to cancer. I honestly have never put any favor to use unless it was food lol
