AT ALL. I don't know about you girls, but I am not enjoying engaged life and planning the wedding at all. I see nothing fun about it. I feel rushed to book things (even though I shouldn't because I have a year and a half) and it ***** because I can't afford the vendors that I want, or I will probably end up booking them and totally going over budget. I feel like people who have told me they enjoyed planning so much and would do it again any day, are the people that could afford anything they want and probably didn't have to look at tons of vendors. If any of you have any suggestions on how I can start enjoying this process and be less stressed, I would greatly appreciate it.

Just relax... Its your day, and you should have it your way... (isn't that the micky d's slogan or something!!)
Anyway... Don't stress... This is suppose to be fun, and don't let anyone make you feel pressured!
Good luck.

Re: Not Enjoying this process....
Planning a wedding is a lot of work...I think you feel overwhelmed with the whole process. Maybe try to make a schedule/list of things you should be doing. When you're actually booking the vendors, try to remember why you're doing this. I worked real close with the people at East Wind to make my dream wedding come true, so try your best to work with your vendors in accomplishing your dream wedding. At times it is bound to be stressful- I saw it with my 2 sisters, but again, just try to remember why. Hope this helps.

I hear you. I'm trying to work full-time, go for my master's online and plan a wedding. Just a bit overwhelming. But I am trying to stay positive and just take one thing at a time. I am also trying to delegate certain tasks to people to keep myself sane. I also am on a tight budget and am looking at all the vendors to get the best price. But we have to stay positive this is suppose to be the best day in our lives.

I am currently not having too much fun either. I am finding it very tough to get an accurate estimate from my family for numbers and most reception hall places i am looking the rooms available are either too small or the minimum is too much. Very frustrating.
I think I will start having fun once this is done. I am really looking forward to sending out save the date cards and those types of things.

Maybe you need to slow down and spend some time reminding yourself of what really matters - the fact that you are getting married. Maybe focus for a little while on something that is less about money and more about your relationship, like planning the ceremony. Or do a DIY project that you can have fun with. And maybe it might be good to get some more quality time with your FH?
I'm sorry you're stressed, I wish I had something more helpful to say, other than just that I wish you luck, and I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful no matter what.

Re: Not Enjoying this process....
We did one thing a month. Honestly, after the first few vendors, I was sick of planning. Now with less than five months to go, I am so ready for it to be here already! Just take it slow, you have time!

It definitely is alot of work - I didn't think I would be this stressed out either -- but sitting back and taking it all in every now and then helps - its supposed to be fun... its not always fun... but all the rough stuff will pay off on your big day!

I felt like that at first but now I realize it supposed to be fun and it is I'm enjoying every minute but it helps beacuse i have enjft on my side. All our vendors are booked and will use this year and a half to pay...basically i use the time frame to get just about what i want within reason.

Re: Not Enjoying this process....
I'm having lots of fun planning and I'm not that stressed out. maybe it's because I've been engaged for over a year already. I think you need to come up with a good plan and do a lot of research. I'm getting married on a budget in Queens and I haven't gone over budget yet (knock on wood). There are lots of vendors that you find through word of mouth that are not very expensive. Don't feel pressure to book things right away. Come up with a few choices that ou really like and then see if they are avaliable for your date. Good luck and searching for reviews on the boards are a good way to find good vendors, there are some ther brides on a budget here also.

aww girlie im so sorry you are feeling this way!! Wedding planning can be both stressful and fun. You gotta do your research on vendors- dont be shy to ask questions on the boards thats why we are here!! If you need suggestions on reasonably priced places ask away!!! Your wedding will be all worth it in the end!!!!! and IT WILL BE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
