so last november my fh's mom passed away from cancer and now his dog was diagnosed yesterday with cancer that is terminal.....our dog had three tumors removed about two months ago and they thought they had gotten it all but my fh noticed a growth and we took him to the vet and they xrayed and said they can't do anything....my fh and i are heartbroken and he just feels like his fmaily picture he has at work (us, his parents and the dog) keeps shrinking....just wanted to vent....sorry.....

Re: not fair...
no, i wish....we saw the xray oursleves and they could take some of the tumors out but others are already on his major organs (lungs and maybe heart) and they can't remove them....the vet is very good but said that the cancer isa fast moving kind (maybe a mast cell type 4 or something like that - can't remember..) and that while he could do chemo and take the tumors out that he could get to, they would all just grow back....for now, we just have to wait and see - once he starts to be in pain b/c the tumors grow too big, we will have to put him to sleep....

We went through the same exact thing about 2 months ago. It was very, very hard, but you don't want to see the dog suffer. Just give her lots of love and attention in the mean time.

Re: not fair...
I'm so so sorry You will be in my prayers.
Here is a really nice poem that helped me a little after my dog passed away
'Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.......' (~Anonymous)

Re: not fair...
I can understand you because I am a dog lover ... and it is so hard to see them sick, and the fact that his mother passed away not so long ago ... be strong, their love will be always with you!
