NOT GETTING MARRIED IN A CHRUCH

I AM A LITLE UPSET YOU SEE I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED IN A CHRUCH. TO ME IT'S NOT A REALLY BIG THING. I LIVE IN BROOKLYN MY RECEPTION AND CEREMONY ARE IN LONG ISLAND AND I REALLY DON'T GO TO CHRUCH AND I THINK I WOULD BE WRONG IF I GOT MARRIED IN A CHRUCH BECAUSE I DON'T GO TO CHRUCH. PLUS I DON'T WANT TO WALK INTO A CHRUCH I REALLY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT. I JUST SAID YOU KNOW WHAT I GOT TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR ME. THAN I SAW A PRIEST THE OTHER DAY AND HE ASKED ME IF A WAS GETTING MARRIED I SAID YES, HE SAID WHAT CHRUCH I TOLD HIM I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED IN A CHRUCH AND HE WAS REALLY NOT HAPPY AND HE BASCIALLY TOLD ME THAT GOD IS NOT GOING TO SEE MY MARRIAGE AS BEING REAL ANYWAY I AM GOING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR ME. SO ANY BRIDES NOT GETTING MARRIED IN A CHRUCH I NEED A GOOD OFFICANT TO DO MY CEREMONY
JUST WANTED TO VENT
THANKS GIRLS

We're not getting married in a church either. We're having the ceremony at our reception location, and using Rev. Janine Burns as our officiant.

Everyone is different, you shouldn't feel bad for not being married in a church.

Ok, it's comments like the one that priest made to you that let me know a church IS THE LAST PLACE I WANT TO GET MARRIED! We are broderline about hiring an officiant, or having our friend, who got ordained online (it's totally legal) marry us. With all that's wrong in the world, I can guarantee God's not gonna get po-ed that I'm not getting married in a church!

we had a friend perform our ceremony and I thought it meant a lot more than having someone I didn't know...

I'm not religious...and not to get into a religious debate...but if God is omniscious...why wouldn't he 'see' your marriage anywhere?

I didn't get married in a church, because I always
wanted a garden wedding. Growing up, I was raised up in a church, (going to church at lease
3 times a week).

I had my minister peformed at my outside ceremony. Which was held at the catering hall. I got married Aug 2002, and my guests are still raving about the unique special touches that were added.

Have your wedding your way!!!

Re: NOT GETTING MARRIED IN A CHRUCH

Wow! What awild thing for a priest to say!! Here is my situation..I was raised by strict catholic parents..as I got older I atteneded church now and then..I still believe in God, just not necessarily certain things about the church..( its all personal)..to make a long story short..I wsa told the same thing..if you get married by a justice of the peace its not blessed by God..I dont believe that..but I do want some type of religous man marrying me just because ..so I am having Rev. Bosch perform my ceremony..its a christian ceremony..and i have already checked it out with the catholic church. if I want to go back to the catholic church, in order to have my marriage accepted by them ,,since I am having a reverned do my cermony, all the catholic church has to do it bless it. I think its rediculous..but I may change my mind later down the road when I have children...but for now..I am getting married ina chapel and doing what works best for me and my fiance. Rev. Bosch is really nice and very esay to work with. I feel very good about him marrying us!!
Religion can get way out of hand..thats probably why I dont attend church every sunday..Good luck!!

May be your caterer can help you about it. We got married by a lady interfaith minister, and the service was very nice, short, and meaningful. Her name is Rev. Nike, if you need more info, FM.

I am very sorry about the rude comment made by that priest. We are not getting married in a church either and i don't feel as though our marriage will be any different than if it happened in a church. My df has a friend that is a judge and he will marry us. I do know of a wonderful couple who perform ceremonies together. They married my friend and it was great. They are very caring people. If you would like more info let me know.

We are not getting married in a church. We hired Fr. Jim who is a reformed Catholic priest. He is an absolute sweetheart.

It is a shame that a priest said that to you. Whether you go to church or not you will be blessed. I know a lot of people who got married and ended up in divorce. If you think about it, were they blessed any more than people who decide not to get married in the church???
