Is there anyone who is thinking of doing their own hair and makeup? I am still not 100% sure what I want to do yet. Just wanted to see what others are doing and get some advice.

Re: not getting pro hair and makeup?
I would say that is one of the most important things...you want to be flawless on that day and have less stress knowing a professional will be doing it...

Im getting my hair done, but more than likely doing my own makeup. Im not arrogant about it or anything, but I think I do a good job putting makeup on.

Re: not getting pro hair and makeup?
My sister never wears any makeup and doesn't do much with her hair. For her wedding she had someone do it and everyone was in disbelief. She looked so incredible. I really recommend getting it done. Your paying so much to have your pictures taken you might as well.

Re: not getting pro hair and makeup?
I was really set on having my hair and makeup done but everyone keeps telling me to do it myself..most of my friends come to me to do their hair and makeup..I think I do a pretty good job of it, but i'm scared to mess up on the big day..i have a feeling I'm going to cave and get it done professionally..

I think every bride should get their makeup and hair done. It's important to have people take care of everything because if things don't turn out the way you want it, you will be an unhappy bride.

If I new anything about makeup I probably would have done it myself. I dont wear alot of makeup so I don't have a clue! If you know what you are doing definitly save the money and do it yourself!

Re: not getting pro hair and makeup?
My cousin is a hair dresser so she is going to do all of our hair. And we're doing our own make up. I'm not a big make up person in general so I know that if I went somewhere to have it done it would end up being too much no matter what they did. I'll probably just put some eye make up on and that's it.

Re: not getting pro hair and makeup?
I am definitely getting both done but I am not forcing my BP to. My hair is so thin that it is virtually unmanageable for me. So I definitely need a pro. I could probably do my own makeup (I did for my e-party) but I want to make sure it will last the whole day And I'm not sure it would if I did it myself. Besides, I would probably stress myself out if I did it myself...I just want to be pampered that day.

i ws always getting my hair done by a pro and toyed (did i spell that right ) around with doing my own make-up. i kind of feel like i want to be pampered and want someone to do my m/u for me. i dont wear much to begin with and dont want to worry about it on my wedding day. i don't trust my skills or lack thereof

Re: not getting pro hair and makeup?
If I knew how to do either one well, I would, but I'm awful at both. Ok for 'everyday' but I'm not talented in really doing myself up . . . . I even had it done for a birthday party!! lol
I wish it was an expense I didn't need to bear, but me and the makeup brush are not the combination I'm looking for on the big day.

Re: not getting pro hair and makeup?
I never thought there was anything wrong with doing your own hair or makeup and I still dont think that I do...
I just want to be honest and tell you about a wedding that I recently went to. The bride was practicing doing her own makeup for weeks before the wedding and she got GREAT at it!! However, I didnt see the 'glow' on her face that day. Now you may be a great makeup person, so disregard this... but the woman who just did my trial (a real makeup artist) admitted to me that she wishes she got her makeup done on her wedding day instead of doing it herself. Let us know what you decide!

Re: not getting pro hair and makeup?
I am having my normal hairdresser do my hair but I'm going to do my makeup myself. I am not a makeup person and I know this is a special day but I still wouldn't feel comfortable with a look that isn't me.
