FMIL said we had to invite about 20 people from CA. None of them are coming.
A lot of my friends from work are married and are attending alone. Three of their hubbies are cops and the overtime for the holiday is too good. FH's boss and cousin are attending alone also. That's at least 6 less people. Some of FH's 'friends' flaked out on us. some people are laredy committed due to the holiday.
My minimum is 100. So far we have 88 plus 2 (us) plus 3 vendors. That's if everyone shows.
I just pulled two other C listers out of my 'elbow' (Dad's neighbors), made up reply cards on the computer and hope they can come.
My next recourse is to invite some of my students... NOT!!!

Well thats a bummer that you are going to have to pay for some people that arent going to be able to make it. But sometimes a smaller more intimate wedding is nicer. I wish i did a destination wedding....

I have a strange feeling we're going to end up the same...our minimum is 110 and our A list consists of 125... It kills to think we could waste money when it's so tight to begin with...

Sorry to hear that....we may be in the same boat, we invited 270 for a 150 minimum too! Right now we have 121 and missing 52 more replies, we shall see.

I feel you pain, we are not making out room minimum either. We are off by about 6 people and i think it's rude that some of people are not coming, when we went to theirs. I was mad a first but I'm getting over it and i think with less people we can enjoy ourselves more

I totally understand. I have a minimum of 120 and have received replies for 70. I need 50 more and some people are just not responding! Geez!

Have you talked to your hall? Is it possible they will throw something in for the people you are paying for that wont be there? Maybe like a seafood bar or extra dessert?

No, they already lowered the minimum and the price substantially for us.
We are in the Astor Room and our minimum is 100, suually it's at least 120 or so. They also came WAY down in price. I wouldn't be having a wedding if I had to pay close to $150 pp. We are older and want kids right away so we can't deplete our savings.
Well, I guess I can have them wrap the meals up for us. I won't have to cook when I get home from HM

We actually invited 206...so far we have 120 that have replied yes (This does not include our 7 vendors we are feeding (5 piece band and photographer and his assistant)). Our hall said they would include them if we were very close to our 150 minimum. We told them we would have at least 170!! ALOT of FH's said is saying no (which is pissing his mother off!) We are still waiting for 42 replies, so as long as 30 of them are yes, we should be ok, I hope. And TOMORROW is our RSVP date and we know we arent getting them all in on time!

I did we are up to 94 if everyone comes that day. I don't have too much faith in a few of the people.
I mean my own Godmother didn't come to my shower

You caould always just ask the watermill to wrap up the other dinners and then give them to your parents to take home....
or..
have you invited your officient to stay for dinner? If your officient is married you can also invite his or her SO

Well, I haven't mailed out the invites yet but...we guaranteed 100. I have 126 on the invite list plus 20 kids (don't ask..thats another terrible battle). Anyway, looks like instead of paying half price for our kids we will be paying full price for food they probably wouldn't touch a ten foot pole.

i invited 162, my min. is 110 and so far (10 days after the rsvp date) i have 100, and 8 people have not responded.
we had to call so many people. i had 60 people not rsvp by my date. so many family members are not coming at they all got save the dates! i'm so pissed! AND if people rsvp'd in time i could have sent out cards to my b list.
