Not having a rehearsal?

Not having a rehearsal?

Anyone else not having a rehearsal? We're getting married at the RH and they told us yesterday not to do a rehearsal the day before. They also mentioned that we should just do one when we got there, but we're only getting there 30 mins before our guests (weird?)

So - here's my question. Anyone also not doing a rehearsal at their RH? And if I don't do a rehearsal, do I have a rehearsal dinner??

ahhhh TIA!

I am not doing a rehearsal at the RH either. Westbury Manor told me that they will do a quick rehersal the day of the wedding. I am super worried that I won't know what to do, I may just have a semi rehersal somewhere else, like my yard or something and then go to a restaurant for dinner.

eta: Not having a rehearsal at the RH has me super super worried.

We ARE doing a rehearsal and are getting married at the hall. We are doing it 2 days before the wedding. I never heard of not doing it. I would try and push them for a quick 30 min rehearsal the day before. The last thing you want to be thinking about the day of is practicing right b4

We are doing our run through on the wedding day also. I don't know why, but I am not worried! We will be having a meet and greet at the hotel the night before.

Ren,

My minister told me that if me and fh are not seeing each other before the ceremony, then what WM does is they have the run through with fh and the entire BP, (Without the bride) and the bride depends on everyone else to kind of guide them.

We aren't going to have a rehearsal either. RH said the same thing- the morning of...but we aren't seeing each other. Maybe we could do it before I put on the dress and DOJ, but not sure.

As for the RD, there was another bride that talked about doing like 'dinner and a movie' night- where you would play old videos of the bride and groom growing up, and having appitizers, and food to just gnosh on. We plan on playing like 'father of the bride' or another wedding-themed movie in one of the meeting rooms at Fox Hollow (hopefully) or somewhere nearby. Since you are also spposed to invite all OOTers as well- we are looking at close to 100 people!!!!

Is it possible for you to do a rehearsal during the week? Is your bridal party local?

this!

I would ask to do one on wed or thur before your wedding. i understand them not wanting one the day before because you are a saturday wedding

there is no way id feel comfortable doing a run through the day of the wedding...its up to you, if youre not comfortable then talk to your hall and express your concerns...they are super nice there so im sure they will understand

and you dont have to do RD if youre not doing rehearsal...maybe just take your bp and parents(if they are helping w wedding) out to dinner or have them over for get together as a thank you and present the gifts to them...or do nothing at all!

Re: Not having a rehearsal?

We are getting married on a Saturday night, so our rehearsal would need to be the Friday night before...since that is a busy wedding night our RH does not allow us to come for a rehearsal :( Guess it makes sense. We will do our run through an hour before the actual ceremony. BUT we are still having a RD the night before. We want to start the party early!!! LOL We also want to give our bridal party their gifts at the RD, do a slideshow, and make some speeches and all that good stuff.

Re: Not having a rehearsal?

Thanks guys for all the responses! I wish I could do something on Wed or Thurs but I have a feeling since my wedding is so far out east (and some of my WP is OOTers) I might not be able to do it then....

I think I may just do something quickly right before the wedding - we are seeing each other first for pictures so I guess we'll just do a quick walkthrough up in the bridal suite or something.

I'm definitely doing a rehearsal. I don't need an extra stress the day of the wedding!

Re: Not having a rehearsal?

I've been in a wedding where the rehearsal was quick and right before the wedding. There is nothing complicated about walking up and down the aisle. There is no need to rehearse the entire ceremony with your officiant.
All they do is line everyone up with who they are walking with, make sure you don't walk too fast or too slow, and show you where to go once you get up to the alter. Then, how to pair up and walk back. It's like being in a play in kindergarten. They just kinda point to you and tell you to go. It's pretty easy for the bride. We've all been to many weddings, seen a gazillion on TV, you get escorted the whole way, your blusher gets pulled back, you kiss/hug your escort, and you take your fiance's hand, and go up to the alter. No biggie. If you have anything more complicated than that, or different than the usual, then maybe just do a quick rehearsal at your house with those involved in the complicated part.
Don't get concerned!

And by the way, I've also been to a wedding with a night before rehearsal, and those take forever because everyone is too excited to pay attention. And they're boring.

Re: Not having a rehearsal?

My brother was married at Westbury and they did not have a rehearsal beforehand. Before the ceremony started they just gave us a run down of what to do.
They didn't have a rehearsal dinner but just took the bridal party out for a thank you dinner.

Re: Not having a rehearsal?

im not having a rehearsal either...or rather just a mini-one right beforehand too (just for my fh and groomsmen, and i guess bridesmaids if they wanted)...no worries here! i figure all my girls are used to weddings and there's really not much to it at all, i'm sure your reverend will give instructions in a super-comfortable way during the ceremony!! and the guys (who aren't so use to weddings) will get some instruction alittle beforehand and at least then they will hopefully retain some of it lol!

not sure if we are doing a dinner the night before anyway, probably not to save $$ and time! i think i am going to host a dinner with my girls like a week before to give them gifts and stuff

Re: Not having a rehearsal?

I am getting married at RH and having a quick rehearsal 45 mins before the ceremony starts. Me and FH are seeing each other for pics beforehand, but I dont want him to see me walking down the aisle in my dress, etc so I am going to skip the rehearsal and rely on the others to guide me through. My other option was a rehearsal the night before at a location other than the RH, but I think I'd be so distracted anyways not sure if I'd do it...

I still want to do some sort of dinner to acknowledge the wedding party, but we have some OOT-ers too so I might do a pre-wedding get together the weekend before for whoever can make it...

GOod luck!
