just because its an ad doesn't take away from the meaning behind it
a lot of brides on here that didn't get video have admitted that they regret not getting the video
a friend of mine got married a couple of years ago and decided against hiring a videographer and to this day she still regrets it...even if those people are paid actors...its still a sentiment that a lot of couples feel

even if you get a student or at least a relative that is good with a camera..i think the moving memory is so important..because to tell you the truth..i dont remember my wedding at all and it was only 3 weeks ago

This is what I am doing. I am going to ask 1 person to videotape the ceremony, and a few people to just record the reception whenever they feel like it. I have a friend who is an editor for wedding videos and I think he would put together something for me. I didn't have the money for a videographer and also don't really want a video in my face or anyone else's all day -- but I feel that as long as I get some of it on video, I'm good.

I think some sort of video is very impt -- photos were my priority and I'm sure I will look at those more, but I want to be able to go back and rewatch everything.
Even if a pro videographer is not in your budget, hiring a HS or college student might be worth looking into. Also, you could register for a camcorder and give it to a relative or even have it passed around throughout the day.
i cant imagine not having video. photos are important but i love to relive things and my wedding is one thing i would want to relive through video and have all those memories on tape.
