Did anyone have any problems meeting their minimum? We are two weeks out to our wedding and we are below our minimum by 20 people. I'm supposed to speak with the banquet manager today about it. But I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone and what did you RH do? My RH is at WCC.
Thanks!

Re: Not meeting minimum--any help?
Some brides in the past had asked if they can get upgrades since they did not meet their minimum. Maybe you can ask for a chocolate fountain or an extra station at your cocktail hour

Do you have any other people that you could invite?

I've also heard of paying full price for vendors and children if you don't meet your minimum to make up for the difference.

Re: Not meeting minimum--any help?
I know some brides have gotten upgrades to certain items (extra things during CH, chocolate fountain, etc.). We fell below our minimum by 9 people, so the caterer added an extra layer to the cake and did fontant, and also packaged up the extra meals (just the main courses, not extra hor dourves and appetizers) for us to take home and freeze (they still tasted great after the HM!). At least it was something, and the effort was nice and that is all that really mattered to us!

I guess I could but I just feel weird/awkward inviting people two weeks before.

Re: Not meeting minimum--any help?
definitely come right out and ask your rh what they can do for you. We were under by about 20 people as well and all we got was a sympathetic look. Granted we got what we paid for, but I sort of wish that we came right out and asked what they could do for us.

We are in the same boat....I have 15 days to go, & about 30 shy......I already spoke w/my RH over a week ago....we actually did add a few more invites....I still have guests that have not responded...(22 invites!!! That's 44 people!!) and I even mailed out postcards last week, reminding people...I don't know yet where we'll end up, number wise....& I don't know yet what the RH will do for us yet...all he said was he'd 'try to work with the numbers', not sure exactly what it boils down to. I have to call him next Tues with my numbers...& I meet with him next Thurs to find out the outcome.....

I def understand that... maybe coworkers or something who you are friendly with? You could always say that you were just going to have an intimate affair with close friends & family, but there's some space now and you'd love to have them.

I was in this situation as well. I would see what you can get from the hall. If you have single guests, you can ask if they want to bring a date, or a friend even. Work people won't be insulted if you add them at the last minute....just say' we had some family cancel out so I can add a few friends, I'd love it if you can come.' Do not ask distant relatives you did not invite in the first place. Also think through any vendors you can offer a meal to. Good luck!

Re: Not meeting minimum--any help?
We were in the exact same boat...below by 20 ppl My RH counted the vendors towards our mininum, then split the difference with us (we paid for 10 and then took the 10 extra meals home at the end of the night). My RH was not doing any upgrades....but many do, you can ask for an extra station at your CH or an upgrade for something Maybe a martini slide?
ETA: Just a thought...some ladies on here actually invited some liweddings girls to their weddings when they fell short of their mininums. Maybe something you would also consider?

Re: Not meeting minimum--any help?
I would def invite people last minute. . they do not need to know they are 1 of 20 - just to say. that you had family that cancellled out and you are so excited you have space to invite them and you know it's last minute but you had to keep numbers down b/c of economy but now you are so hoping they can come. . .
if not go for upgrades but I think in this economy most people would not be offended last minute
