not Meeting minumum-

Oh well its been awhile since I have posted. Just been so busy with work, taking my dad to treatment daily (he was diag with lung cancer 4 wks ago).

So I msut admit, I am looking forward to getting the wedding over with already. Must say I agree with many that you truly learn who ppl really are when planning a wedding.

As of right now, it def looks like we will be under our min by approx 10 ppl. Any thoughts/ideas as most likely FH and I think we are going to end up eating the cost since I just had 8 OOT fam members cancel last nt (after they said yes, and after I had to email them b/c I felt like I was being avoided)....

If any other VYC brides know how they handle this any info would be great...We know an option could be upgrading certain menu items, but is there anything besides that?

I don't know anything about VYC specifically but you could have them wrap the extra meals for you and FH so that you can eat them at a later time.

Anyone who is half price you could upgrade to full price

You could pay full price for your vendors maybe?

I know my RH said one of their options was just to raise the price pp slightly.

why can't they throw in extras so that you are actually paying for something...like an extra entree ..appetizer or dessert

many catering halls will include your vendors and/or kids to meet your minimum, will they do that?

Maybe you can invite coworkers if they haven't been already?

I'm not sure how VYC handles it, but I do know that SOME RHs (cough) don't do diddly for you if you fall under, and you're just SOL. But I don't know if they fall into this category. Maybe they can extend the reception by a half hour or something?

i think some places will include your vendors (if they aren't house vendors) in your regular count if you don't hit your minimum. if not i'm sure they can add something

a friend of mine got married there not to long ago and she was under her min too and they did absolutley nothing for her they refused to throw anything extra in or anything. HTH

First of all I just want to say I am so sorry about your father.. I have been there and I know how hard it can be so if youo ever need anyone to talk to, feel free to fm me!

As for the RH thing..If they don't throw in extras, is there anyone else you can invite to get your numbers higher? I'm at the point where I rather have a stranger on the street come to my wedding and eat the food than just throw money away on nothing!!

Some people even invite people off of LIW to bridge the gap a but.. I don't know how you would feel about doing that though,

Same as the post above.. i hope all is well with ur father and he is handling treatment well. My dad also had lung cancer and was in and out of 2 hospitals over a year.

Like everyone said see if you can have the vendors and kids as full price, add extra stations at cocktail hour, upgrade the menu, and/or invite other people.

I know of a girl on liw who got married at the surf club and was a few under her minimum and actually invited some future surf club brides to her wedding so they can experience it themselves. They obv. weren't obligated to bring a gift.

And then also - I've heard of girls getting really fun upgrades to compensate for not making a minimum - extra cookie/dessert platters, signature cocktail? etc?

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. That must be so rough esp right now.

Have you discussed it with the venue yet? Your venue actually has the same owner as mine. I am surprised they won't count outside vendors as part of it or upgrade in certain areas. That's crappy.

Is there anyone you can still invite that won't be offended by it being pretty last minute?

Hey- let me know if you don't get any satisfactory options and you want people there- because I'd be there with bells on!!! I feel like I missed my whole wedding!!

I hope everything gets resolved, and try to enjoy your last few days!!!
