not registered...what do I do??!!!!!!!!!!

so FH hinted we need to register. I think my shower is very soon.

What do I do?
I don't wanna.
We have NO SPACE YET..it's really bad...
and I don't know what I am going to want since we have no new place yet!

I also don't want to register b/c for wedding, well I want money! AND I have stalkers/haters that will look at my registry and may sabatoge.

HELP!

You can always register for things that you like, and then exchange them if it doesn't wind up working out with the setup of your new place when you have one. I'm not using anything that I get that may fall into that category. Things like kitchenware - pots, pans, etc. can be used no matter what your place looks like. Focus on that stuff for now. HTH!

Can you put a password on a registry??? I never tried but you may be able to.

Trust me, you're better of registering or you're going to end up with a bunch of stuff you really don't want, like or need. People have a tendency to get creative... Maybe you can keep the stuff at one of your parent's places until you get settled.

I think they would actually have to go to the store and buy stuff off of the registry and then return it at some later point... it seems like a lot of effort just to mess with someone you don't like... I guess some people just really have nothing better to do...

Do you have someplace where you could store some stuff? A parents' spare room, a friend's garage, anything like that?

The point of the shower is to literally 'shower' you with things to start your life together, so people WILL buy gifts, so it's better to register! Otherwise you'll get even bulkier things you don't like. Maybe consider a honeymoon registry. Or, spoil yourself and upgrade the can't-live-without things you already have (like getting rid of cheap old towels and registering for some nice spa ones; upgrading your pots or knives, a throw for the couch, a Brita or Pur filter system, etc.). BBB has some nice collapsible stuff; we got a collapsible salad spinner and strainer that doens't take up a lot of room. I guess your last option is to see whether your parents or his could store some of the stuff you get, or to take out a small storage space.

Seriously, I am not doing this for attention, no one would believe me.

But password (didn't know it could be done) is a good idea and yes I wouldn't put it past her to do something like that.

I can also use fake name cuz all the people at shower know about her and would understand!

But still, ugh what do I register for?

Guess new pots, pans, towels, microwave are in order...maybe I'll do BBB.

ps: Mom has two bedroom all to herself but bet she'd say no...FMIL would say ok...she's easy lol

I really think you have to register,even if it is a small registry. People will just wind up buying you things that you REALLY don't need or like or want. Atleast if you register for a few necessities, you will atleast know you picked them out and you like them.

For example, luggage is always a must, pots and pans, platters, towels, sheets, tupperware, appliances.....you don't need to register for china, bowls, picture frames, etc if you don't know the decor of your new place yet but basic items like that should be good for you regardless!

I guess I'm in the minority here. You don't have to register. I mean what did people in our parents day do. They didn't have registeries. You also don't have to have a shower. I don't plan on having one....I've been out on my own for years already and have enough stuff to do me. Alot of people in my family didn't have one.

I didn't want one but FMIL is insisting...

I am just happy she likes me that much to do this b/c my Mother has done nothing. She and my sister didn't even ask to see my ring when I saw them after getting engaged.

Its' okay that you don't have your new place yet, just get creative and visualize what you'd like to have in it. As far as gifts vs money, most people know to shop off of your registry for your shower and will still bring envelopes to the wedding
