Hi all. I'm very discouraged...I went dress shopping on Saturday. However, I am not the sample size...so I found it very difficult trying on dresses. Besides...they make bridal gowns about 3 sizes smaller than your normal clothes...they made me feel like a big fat cow! While I lost about 10 lbs already...and I'm planning on another 30-40 before the wedding...it was still almost impossible. I went to David's brials, and they have dresses in bigger sizes, but the ones in Plus sizes are limited. Anyone know of anywhere else I can look for dresses?
Also..I'm afraid if I buy one of the plus size dresses and I actually do lose another 30lbs, it will be swimming on me.
PS. I normally wear a size 16 in regular clothes. Thanks much.

Lillette's in Baldwin had samples in sizes 6, 10 and 14. They were very good about clipping them on and suggesting flattering sizes!
Good Luck and don't be discouraged! I just lost 2 sizes myself and I was still a 14 in wedding gowns. Don't let it get to you! You will be a beautiful bride!

call lilettes on merrick road in baldwin I think they had a rack of plus size dresses. they really wree nice

I tried some dresses on at the Wedding Center in Commack. They had a nice selection of plus sizes and even their regular size dresses were not all little sizes. I ended up getting my dress at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue. They had a nice selection of dresses in all different sizes.

I found my dress at Fantasia Bridal center... I found that they had a lot of plus sizes, and the lady that helped me was very sesitive with the issue, (she could tell that I was frustrated!). MY dress was actuallya dress that was a size smaller than me, and even then, when I put it on I KNEW!!!!
Dont be discouraged.. I lost at least 30 pounds between then and now.. I went for my second fitting the other day and they had to take it in again!!!!
Just cause youre not the size you want to be NOW.. Dont let someone else ruin your experience!!! FM me if youd like any more info!!! Good Luck!

I tried on dresses at Princess Bridal in Famingdale, The Wedding Center in Commack, Macy's Bridal Salon in Manhasset and I bought my dress at the Bridal Center in Lynbrook. I am a plus size girl. If you have any questions, fm me!

I am a plus size woman and I was able to try on a sample dress in Valentina's in Brooklyn which of course was not my size. I was able to see the detail of the dress and how it would look on me because they clipped it to my bra. Here is me in the sample of my dress (as you can see, it is not my size)
I agree with you luvsun. I have had the same experience, but perhaps going to a larger bridal salon will have more selections. I went to RK bridal in Manhattan and tried on a slew of dresses that larger sizes and plus sizes, so I got a better idea of what it would look like on me. I have to tell you I have gone to smaller places after this and they really dont have much of a selection and they are usually too small for me to even try on or they dont have the sample dresses of what I am interested in. Dont worry, you will find the dress that's right for you

Bridal Suite in Patchogue has a whole room of larger sized samples. They have some really nice dresses.

Try the wedding plaza in Baldwin, that's where I bought my gown. I refused to buy a gown that I couldnt tell how it fit me. I actually didnt even consider an off the shoulder gown but my sister said try it, it's your size. Well, it turned out to be 'The' dress. They had a good selection and I like how they organized the store. Good luck!!!!!
