Nothing wrong with debates here - I, too, am happy though.

okay......so who's happy that the Democrats won a large chunk of yesterday's elections?
I'm one of them.....and one of the fine points for me was TAXES and the war in Iraq.

I'm looking forward to some CHANGES being made. I was very intrigued by the outcomes of the referendum votes (mostly the one in SD).
And I am very pizzed about Bush's speech - telling the Iraqi's 'not to fear' because of the shift.

You mean the referendum votes in Suffolk, or the ones that are in the states still awaiting to hear about which party won the Senate seat?
Bush needs to get his head of out of his a$$ - he has a war going on, that he instigated (with help) and men are dying, and all for what, right now?

Betsy, I meant South Dakota -- so many red states had referendums regarding gay marriage and abortion to bring out their base.

I've been reading the boards too much and not the news!
I've been reading Newsday for any knowlege and Bob took the paper to work before I could read it thoroughly!

So, if I'm in Commack Costco and feel a Tallie breathing down my neck, I shouldn't be scared?
As for the elections. I don't think there was much contest as far as the NYS candidates were concerned.
I'm surprised it's taken Rummy this long.

a woman speaker of the house, I find that interesting.

me too.
I do hope though, that while the demos try to get us out of this muck and mire that we've been stagnated in, that they do carry on with some of the 'back bone' of this 'regime (haha)'
I think we need to be a little 'firmer' in the global front...not going in and dismantling a country, but letting it be known that there IS a limit to our talk...
I still think Clinton should have done a bit more after the Cole...and even in Somalia. We can't let people think we are afraid to use our troops, but we can't send our troops to die on a whim either.

Re: Not to start a political debate, but I'm happy about this.
I have this fear, though, we all want some change, but with an almost split tie in house and senate, all it will become is a political debate on all the issues without any outcome for 'us' - reason why I hope and pray that Spitzer does something to help ALL NYers, esp with tax reform - it's horrendous!
