Not wedding related - need info on Newport, RI

Sorry! This isn`t a wedding question - we`re planning a trip to Newport, RI this October, and I need recommendations on hotels/B&B`s. I`ve only been there once a while ago, and don`t remember much! We definitely want to stay in the center of town, but there are SO many hotels to choose from, any advice/recommendations from someone who`s been there would be a great help! Thanks in advance

I highly recommend the Inn at Castle Hill. It is not in town, but is one of the best places to stay. I go to Newport a lot and this is a very romantic place. If you want some place in town, there is always the Marriott and the Newport Harbor Hotel. If you need any other info let me know!

I got engaged in Newport....

And I know Newport VERY well. We usually stay at the Castle Hill Inn which is gorgeous but pretty pricey. We have also stayed at the Mill Street Inn (request room 212)and have gotten the duplex rooms. Room 212 overlooks the harbor and has a beautiful balcony from your 2nd floor bedroom. The Mill Street Inn does not have a restaurant but there are so many around to choose from that you won't have a problem. Also, you can walk everywhere from the Mill Street Inn. You will need to drive everywhere from the Castle Hill but it is in a beautiful location with beautiful grounds and a very good restaurant. I strongly recommend either. Please let me know if you have any more questions. I used to summer in Newport with my family and know the area quite intimately. - Michelle

I called around...

...and Castle Hill was a LITTLE too pricey - $450+ per night! It looked absolutely gorgeous though. Mill Street Inn was completely booked for 2 wedding parties. Unique Rolls also recommended Hotel Viking which looks nice too, so maybe we`ll go there. Thanks for your help, and let me know if you think of any other recommendations! Teri
