Nothing like finding out your hot water heater is flooding your house at 11pm last night!
Ahhh!! What a day! Last night DH was going to bed and the carpet by the stairs was soaking wet. Turns out our water heater is shot and needs to be replaced. The **** thing leaked under the walls and the carpet. (THE WORST THING ABOUT LIVING IN TEXAS...NO BASEMENTS, SO YOUR WATER HEATER IS IN A CLOSET!). Anyway, the water was everywhere. I asked DH to go to Walmart at 1am to get a shop vac. Best decision! We cleaned all the water up, turned off the water supply to the heater, but still..leaking everywhere! It is impossible to turn the water to our house off beacuse the knobs are broken, so I had to call the citty emergency water line last night at 2am and have them shut our water off at the source. The plumber, with no sense of urgency finally shows up at 12:30 pm today. Our water heater cannot be installed until WED! That means no water until Wed. or else we take the risk of turning it on and flooding the house again! And of course our homeowners warrenty that the seller has to purchase in Texas covers labor and parts, but there is always addiional costs that are not covered! These are the days when I look back and wish I was still renting!! AHHH...just had to vent!
