Now even more depressed...
I posted the other day about my wedding coming up this month, and being sad over the death of some friends at the WTC. well just as i started to heal from that, my 18 yr old dog got sick on monday with vertigo. When the vet told me that he took x rays and found a tumor in his belly. 'buddy ' miraculously recovered from the vertigo , but he was still unable to hold his food down, for 3 days . So my choices were bring him home and have him starve to death, or put him to sleep. I chose to put him to sleep . I just wan't you all to know That i've had BUDDY since i was 11yrs.old. I'm 27. he has been there to lick my booboos when i was a kid, and been there to pull me on my sled in the snow when I was a kid and had no one to play with. He's been there through my parents divorce, my brothers marriage, and birth of his kids, was there to meet My Boyfriend 8 yrs ago, when he come over to pick me up on our first date, and he was there when that boyfriend and i got engaged. When we put him to sleep, my dad, my brothers and my fiance and i all held buddy and kissed one last time. I was glad to be there in his final moments. Thank you all for listening. Heidi

Heidi ...
Oh Heidi - I know how you feel. I just went through the same thing about a month ago - on the date thats one year till our wedding. It`s so tough - I had my dog for 13 years, but it does get a little easier with time. Try to think of all of the good times you had with Buddy and what a good life he had. At least he`s not in pain anymore and you were with him before he went - I`m sure he felt more loved than ever!

My heart is breaking
I'm so sorry Heidi. I have a dog and I can totally understand how much it must hurt to lose your pet. Think of all the wonderful years you had with him. It will take time though to heal. My heart goes out to you. Here is something that a friend showed me once when she lost her beloved dog. Hope it helps make you feel a bit better. BEYOND LIFE'S GATEWAY Little one lie down your head The day is closed, it's time for bed! The gentle winds blow to and fro And all of nature seems to know... That day has fled and all around The evening comes without a sound. A glorious calm has settled deep Upon the day. It's time for sleep. May dreams of fields and running free Fill every moment of your sleep. May peaceful rest bring you this day To yonder shore beyond the gate. I'll linger here awhile just yet, But you go on, my loving pet. T'is time for us to part our way, Until the coming of the day... When we again will meet once more Beyond Life's Gateway, on yonder shore. But for a time we both must wait On either side God's shining gate. And should you see me crying there It's not because I think unfair The shortness of the days we shared T'is only that I loved and cared. So go my gentle, little one With all my love into the sun I'll join you on another day When all earth's cares shall pass away. Maybe this web site will give you a little peace. http://www.in-memory-of-pets.com/pet-loss.htm

Thank you all so much for...
your kind words. It helps me to know that some of you know what I'm going through. Its just so hard that when I walk in the door he's not there to greet me anymore. I feel sick to my stomache right now. I just never thought this day would come, nor did I wan't it to come. But thank you so much

I am so sorry for your loss. Some people just don`t understand how devistating it can be to lose a pet. Pets are such unique, individual creatures. They can not be replaced, and this is also something people do not understand. I experienced that pain a few years ago when my cat was diagnosed with cancer and had to be put to sleep just three months later, right before Christmas. He was only 11. Some people said that was old, but I`ve known cats that have lived into their 20s, and I fully expected that for my cat. He was my pal, through thick and thin. Always there no matter what. Pets are so true and genuine, that`s part of what makes losing them so difficult. I know a lot of people thought it was strange when I had my cat buried at a pet cemetery, but that was the only thing that seemed proper to me. After we returned from our brief honeymoon, my husband and I took our alter arrangements to the cemetery. It saddens me that he is no longer with me, but I keep him in my thoughts often and will always miss him. Know that you did what you felt was best, and you saved him from pain and suffering. Know that you were helpful and supportive to him by being there, and he didn`t have to pass without his loved ones. And know that you have people around you who know the pain you are feeling.

I am so sorry for all of your loss. Just keep positive thoughts during this special time, I know it will be a wonderful and memorable day for you. Think of how much you and your fiance love each other and what life is about to bless the two of you with.

I am so sorry
I am crying with you. Losing a pet is no different than losing a human friend. It is good know that you had the strength to love your dog enough not to let him suffer. My prayers and heart goes out to you and your family. It has just not been an easy month. I will say that you have been blessed with finding such a great guy. He has even with you today. Not many girls in the world can say that their husband would hold their hand while putting their dog to sleep. I hope that your heart is not so heavy soon.Welcome New Vendors
