I was just at Macy's buying some 50% off ornaments. I got a bunch of the 'our firsts' because I thought they were cute. I also bought the baby's 1st XMAS ornament for my cousin (because I still haven't shipped out his XMAS gift yet, so he'll never know that I bought it late)
Anyway, this kid came near me and yelled to his mother, 'MOM, we should get our ornaments now that they're 50% off. We can use them next year or give them to people as gifts.'
The mother yelled back at him, 'NO, that's a DISGUSTING thing to do.'

I agree with cocoa! i got ornaments for christmas and you know what I loved them. it the thought that counts and they can have for the rest of thrie lives to put on their christmas tree. Dont listen to that B!tch she has no common sense and respect for people. Dont be sad you did a very generous thing and its not the money that counts its the thought.

No, I didn't say anything. She was walking past me anyway. I just felt sad. I guess she thought I was a dirtbag for buying 50% off ornaments. Too bad she's teaching her kid to be that way...

There is NOTHING wrong with buying 50% off ornaments. I would rather get a gift that was on sale knowing the person bought it saved some money. But that is just me.

please. . I work with a woman that does 90% of her shopping now, for next year ( she has a big family!)
maybe she thought the kid meant, to get ornamanets for themselves & then take them off the tree & give them to people--or maybe she was jsut a snob.
I always buy ornamnets for next year after christmas. There is never time before & who can pas up a sale? I don't give them as gifts, but that's mostly because I can't plan that far in advance.

I do most of my shopping now when things are on sale as do most of my family and in laws. We think that it is the best opportunity to get the most for our money. Don't feel bad at all. That woman sounds like a snob if you ask me.
