Now I find out that the band can't play my songs...
So, I have been saying for OVER 1 YEAR what songs I wanted them to play. They happen to be my wedding song and a departure song.
Now, 4 weeks before my wedding, I am told that they don't think they can do those songs very well...
My contract says that they will learn 3 new songs, but it doesn't specify WHICH 3 songs. They can do 1 and parts of the other 2.
They are doing my wedding for less than their regular price, because I begged them to. But, I still owe them $3200 on the night of the wedding.
What do I do?

I don't know what you should do, but I wanted to say I'm sorry...
Just do your best to be flexible, I guess!

I'm sorry they are putting you through this.
Any good band should be able to learn whatever songs you want them to, especially if they are a significant section of your wedding. It is in their contract that they would learn 3 songs - they are not living up to their contract. If you are dissatisfied, I wouldn't give them full fee the night of the wedding unless you hear those songs you wanted them to learn.

My girlfriend had a band that couldnt learn their first dance song. They used a CD for the first dance. If you are stuck on the song than that may be option.

We used a CD for our first dance because it wasn't a 'band' song (although our band would have been happy to learn it) - it wasn't a problem at all.

That's unacceptable. I'd think very seriously about detracting from the tip. I wouldn't mention your intention until that night though as they might do a lousy job.

In all honesty, yes, they are difficult songs. But, I was very clear from the beginning about how important they are to me. And, 1 of the songs is not in English. But, I was assured that they'd be able to do it.
They have been honest and admitted that they didn't realize what was involved. but, the point is that I would have liked to have that info SOONER. It's only a month before my wedding, everything is falling apart, and I don't have enough time to fix ALL of the issues...

I would be furious...insist that they play your songs from a CD, and that you want a discount on their services. They obviously are not worth the sum you are paying them and you should be compensated for your inconvenience. Especially at this point to tell you. ARGH!!

try to call other bands maybe you can still get it to work - or tell this band that they arent living up to their contract and see what they say
