NRC cake

Does anyone know what bakery they use or have a picture of a cake done from the NRC? Need to cut back and thinking of starting with the cake and chocolate fountain. Iknow plenty of girls have said their cake is great.

I think they make the cake themselves?

What I've heard is: cake tastes very good, isn't very elaborate, choice of stacked or tiered, square or round, can be decorated by florist or with relatively simple designs.

We're doing viennese (includes 2? choc fountains) so we didn't think it was necessary to upgrade the cake. I still don't have a clue what i want my cake to look like though

I dont have pics but if you check out some 07 NRC brides reviews you can probably find some nice pics. Also they make their own cakes, no bakery

They make their own cake. Mine was beautiful. I'll see if I can find a pic. BRB.

This pic doesn't do it justice. I might have a better one.

They bake their own cakes and pastries.
This was my cake. Flowers were ordered from my florist.

Re: NRC cake

Thanks for the info. I'll have to see what they offer. Maybe I can get some kind of decoration for it since it's plain. We are doing the touch of veinesse on everyone's table with an icecream bar and I was hoping to get the large chocolate fountain but we are so broke right now that i dont know if we can swing it. Maybe they will do the two small one's for us on the ice cream bar.

They have a book of designs that you can choose from, or you can bring in pics of your own and see if they can do it.
The only thing NRC does not do is fondant.
I wanted flowers on mine, so I chose a simple design.

preshussmurf also had her wedding at NRC. Take a look at her album. Her cake was really nice.

Awww ... thanks

The above posters are correct. They make their own cakes. Actually, since they own the diner next door, they make the cakes over there and then bring them across the parking lot

We had the Dessert Cafe, so we figured the cake was only a small part of the whole 'dessert course' ... so we didn't want to go spending extra money using an outside baker to get a fancy cake.

I'm pretty sure if you use an outside baker, they don't take any $$ off the price but they also don't charge an extra cutting/serving fee. You'd have to confirm that with your BM though, I'm not 100% sure that I'm right.

Anyway ... here's some pics of my cake, made by NRC.

NRC brides, how did you decide what flavor cake and filling you wanted?

Re: NRC cake

Easy.
DH doesn't like fruit filling, I don't like canoli, so we went middle of the road :
yellow cake with choclate mousse filling, whipped cream icing.
Touch of vienesse was also served, so there would be other tempting flavors.

They offer you any type of cake, any flavor filling, and whipped cream or buttercream icing. Oh, and, you don't get to taste the cake during the food tasting, but that doesn't matter much.

Yes I know! And that many options without tasting is going to be torturous! I'm so indecisive... I'll probably just rule out the few things I don't like and let FH decide

It was easy for us too, actually ...

DH isn't much of a dessert person. My Dad absolutely LOVES yellow cake with cherry filling. We let Dad have his cake (and eat it too ) as a small thank you for everything.

Re: NRC cake

is there a tasting for the filling of the wedding cake at NRC, or do we just pick a combination and that will be our wedding cake?

You will not get to taste ANY of the desert at NRC

what a bummer! I was hoping to try their cake, esp since I've already been to the tasting and loved the food!

Here's a pic of my cake. I have to tell you, Ida was awesome with the whole cake situation. I was such a PITA about the cake, it was absurd. 2 days before my wedding I decided I changed my mind and had to have this other cake. I brought her the picture and she made no promises. Low and behold, they came through for me. I was so happy. The cake was OK...we did chocolate with white chocolate mousse and raspberries. But it looked beautiful. This pic doesn't even do it justice. I was really happy.
