Numbering response cards?

Numbering response cards?

I've heard recently that you should put a number in the corner of the inside of the response card so when the people send it back you will know who it is from.

Don't people write their name where it says

Has anyone/will anyone do this?

I did the numbering thing on my response cards. It will help if you can't read the handwriting.

the numbering system is for those who forgot to put their names on the card.
I did not do this and didn't have a problem. everyone filled it in correctly.

edited to add, I never thought about handwriting! luckily we didn't have a problem.

Numbering the response cards is a good system in case some people do not write their names or if you can not read their handwriting, then you can just go to your list and match the number on the response card to your list and then you will know which guest sent back that response card.

It is a good idea to number the cards because we received a few back with no names.

Beth I had weenies not put any name nor a number if they are accepting to come to our eparty or not. If it wasn't for me placing the number inside the card, I would have had to call the losers that didn't respond to find out who was the genius that didn't write their name in.

I numbered mine too. I just put a teeny number in pencil on the back of the card - no one will even notice.

We numbered them and we're realy glad we did. Not everyone remembered to write their name. Some of them we even illegible. And then there were families that just wrote Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Meanwhile with all the aunts, unlces, cousins with the same last name, we were confused! Had they written Mr. & Mrs. JOHN Smith or PETER Smith or whatever then we would have known! So we did rely on our numbering a lot - it was a big help!

Betty,

My response just said the Honour of your reply is requested bu April 20th.
People should write their own response but sometimes they just write something like yes we will attend with no name.

We numbered all of response cards and it has come in handy. Also, We have not been able to read the handwriting on some of the responses.

If you are planning on this- take the reply card and on the back on the lower right hand corner put the number in pencil. Not as obvious!!
ALso when you do get responses it is easier to look for a number on your list then a name.

It's good for the reasons stated. Since it corresponded with our guest list spread sheet it made it easier to put in order to update our list.

Re: Numbering response cards?

I've done it and used excel to correspond with it, i have gotten about 60 responses back & although i understand everyone's writing & they all put their names, its good to have.

Betty, when you stuff remember to put one behind the other so you don't mess up the number order you created. I almost did.

Re: Numbering response cards?

Liz just so you know some people DO notice, my boss jokes around with me and says, 'So I am #93 huh?'

Re: Numbering response cards?

Jenn that's too funny We had our #s written in really small pencil numbers, but hopefully no one noticed!

We didn't really need it, but it's still good to track just in case.
