I like jeeps. They are gas guzzlers though but since you had a truck you know what it's like.

i had a jeep grand cherokee for years. I also know many others who have and we all had bad experiences with it after a while. I thought it was just my car but after a certain amount of miles i had to get it fixed ALL the time. Seems like the piece the belt was on, well when they made the car the people had that piece on wrong, so there was a point i was getting a new belt every month or every 2 month which is not normal. Belts last a very long time and you dont change them that often, but that piece was shredding my belt all the time, and they would put new pieces to get it to stay right but still. I had many other problems too, and i finally just got rid of the car bc seriously was getting it fixed every month towards the end and was starting to cost a fortune, not to mention how many times my car died bc the belt breaking which makes the car overheaht and paying for tow trucks too and my luck i was always far when it broke down lol.

FH's brother had the same problem with his and he got rid of it, and a couple of ppl i know. It runs great for a while but after a certain point it can start having problems.

I would look up the car and do research to check customer ratings for it

lol thanks!! see FH`s grandma works for a jeep dealrship and she said that it can go either way with them after 100,000 this particular one i was looking at was owned by one person and always had the maintence done at the dealer. I know there were some safety recalls and i know that was all checked and fixed. i`m just nervous right now buying anything with the wedding 2 months away!! i don`t wanna just buy a piece of crap for 2 months i dunno!! i`m going crazy!!

We have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport... the gas milage is HORRIBLE and we recently had to put a few hundred dollars worth of work into it. Other than that out mechanic always says what a great investment Jeeps are because they last forever and are easy to fix.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a used Jeep (or any car for that matter) that is that old, but that's just me... I've learned my lesson from past experience.

Good luck!

my FH has a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Overland edition). It's beautiful and he loves it!!! He said its the best SUV he's ever driven. But it definitely burns the gas like there's no tomorrow. But he also got the 8 cylinder instead of the 6 cylinder.

i agreee i don`t like buying used cars tat are that old but i`m in a pinch right now....we had no intentions of getting rid of the old truck it just died out of no where the mechanic said it would cost a small fortune to fix and it wasn`t worth it. i cant afford to take on a payment right now because of the wedding in 2 months (i have a loan out so i`ll never get approved!!) and we are trying to buy a condo so i didn`t want to have any loans out when we went for that. Not to mention i just don`t havethe money! lol so i`m kinds getting screwed into this!! it`s this jeep or a honda accord that we found but i really REALLY don`t want to get a 2 door car.

the latest consumer reports used car guide says to stay away from used Jeep Cherokees. i've never had one, but the report says they are among the worst used cars to buy.
