I am sorry that that happend but maybe it isn't her just being rude? Maybe being sick she feels useless and didn't see it as a nice surprise but you trying to take over? People get very emotional at times like that and the holidays aren't always easy. I don't know your FMIL and am not taking her side at all but offering another way of looking at it. My grandfather HATES that he can't do things for himself and gets cranky....tho he does always say thank you....sorry that happened either way!!

nice thought, but no.. she'll use being sick as an excuse (larangitis) but she usally expects her kids to do everything for her so its not like she was sad she couldn't do it for herself... thanks for offereing your opinion and advice

exactly, my father said the same thing, like maybe she can't handle that my FH looks at me like I do everything right, different, and better than her......????????
