NWR: A little gross and/or TMI possibly (Soon2BMrsD this is a good question for you)

I've had my belly button pierced for about 10 years and I left it out these past 3 weeks. Yesterday I wanted to put it back in so I tried...no success. So I put some vaseline on the ring to push it through...no success. That's when I held my breath pushed really hard heard a little snap sound I made some noises and it went through. Out came a piece of skin No blood or anything just skin and a lot of pain. I was scared of germs to I put alcohol on it and wiggled the ring around to get it in there...OMG that burnt like crazy. So now I've just been putting bacitracin on it. It's a little sore, but I'm guessing because I practically just re-pierced it. Is there anything else I should do?

Gracias!

You probably just pushe out the scar tissue that was replacing the whole.

I agree

and next time push it in with the bacitracin NOT the vaseline - so you dont get it infected

i did the same thing, it actually took the same amount of time to heal as it did when i originally had it pierced. just keep it moisturized to avoid an infection, you'll be fine.

sorry melissa i havent been on.. but bacitracin is not good for that.. cuz it traps the bacteria in.. use bedadine (i cant spell you know the bbq sauce looking stuff) and dial soap. you def. repierced it so i would do what the piercing places tell you.. clean it 2 times a day with dial soap put a hoop back in to make it easier to clean. if you notice any redness or puss def. going to a tattoo lous or a piercing place to see if its infected.

Neosporin is a lifesaver.

The next best thing, especially if it does get infected just invert a cup of warm water and sea salt over your belly button. You can lie down in the tub to make it easier. It helps to flll the cup about half way so that when you flip the cup over your belly, it doesn't spill.

Keep it on for about 15 mins or so. Twice a day.

Hi Meliss! I just wanna say no more vasiline ...Id be afraid you'd get it INSIDE the hole and it would get infected. Someone once told me whatever you wouldnt but inside any other holes.....dont put inside your piercing

I was told never to use bacitracin on my belly ring but bactine instead....it's a spray and it disinfects and dries up the wound. I use it all the time just to keep my belly ring clean and I've never had a problem.

Good Luck I hope it heals

I would take it out before you get an infection.

I did the same thing you did once and I continuously washed with Dial soap and put the bedadine (iodine) on it and had no problems. I also put on tea tree oil too. Just watch yourself if you go swimming and make sure you keep it clean and you should have no problems. I re-pierced myself about 6 months ago and had no problems.

I do not have a belly button piercing but I do have my nose pierced and vaseline or neosporin is no god- betadine, wash w/ dial anti bacterial soap and the bactine spray won't hurt - it is disinfects and has a mild pain reliever in it. You just repierced yourself.
