NWR: about animal shelters

NWR: about animal shelters

I would just like to say that TWICE last year my fh found a litter of sick stray kittens. We called all the shelters and none of them wanted them. The first batch we brought to the vet (we thought that he would know what to do), and the vet charged us for their care and gave the kittens back (after they were treated)!! The second time, we just dropped the kittens off at the vets door, since we didn't want to pay $250 for kittens that aren't even ours.

Well, my friend found a pure bred dog, she called all the shelters, put an add in the paper, posted signs, ect.

The shelter called her on Friday and said that she has to bring the dog to them until they find the owner, and if they don't find it, she can pay a $50 adoption fee.

She told them she won't, and they just said okay.

Isn't it funny how she 'HAS' to bring in a pedigree dog, but stray cats are shunned away?

I think they just want to sell the dog, or someone at the shelter wants it.

I could be wrong. Anyone have any thoughts?

I just think there are SO many more stray cats then dogs, and cats are so easy to give away on their own, while dogs really are regarded as animals that need more attention and behavior training...

Ugh thats awful!
They know they will be able to give that dog away in no time. Also, why would your friend have to pay an adoption fee if she found the dog?
