Does anybody know a good school to go to while I work to get my masters in education even though I only have a bachelors of science.. I didnt take up education or teaching in undergrad. My dream is to be a teacher and I think its time to stop putting it off!! Thanks

Re: NWR- Advice going back to school
I went to St. John's University and knew a lot of people who were 'career change' meaning they had their BS in something other than education. I'm sure other schools have this as well. Try Hofstra or CW Post too.

Re: NWR- Advice going back to school
wow I want to do that too! I was taking classes online through the UNiversity of Pheonix but when I decided to move back to NY I was told by the school that NY is the only state that there education department does not accept the credits from there.
So now I have about 20 credits I can transfer but do not know where to go to finish. I really would perfer an online school since I work so much.

I also have a bachelors in Sociology, but would be going in January for my Masters in Education. I dont know if youre in the city or not but Touro college in manhattan, CUNY Hunter is also good for MA/MS in Education, So is Metropolitan College , CUNY City , CUNY Queens.

Re: NWR- Advice going back to school
I just finished my Masters in Education at Queens College. I taught while I attended and all my classes started after 4:00 (really helpful when you're working!). I went there for undergrad and grad school, I've had a really great experience there. The only thing that stinks is the parking. Have you thought about applying for the Teaching Fellows? They pay for your masters and you teach while you go to school. A lot of my friends from school have done that either through QC or St. Johns.

I dont know much about masters programs out in Long Island. I went to farmingdale for undergrad. But Queens college is supposed to be excellent for a masters in teaching,
I think adelphi is good too

Re: NWR- Advice going back to school
i know adelphi has a masters program for people who did not do education as their undergrad you just have to read the requirements for each program. and i also think that the difference is that you would have to student teach if you dont have your undergrad in ed. but the teaching fellows would prob be better because i believe one of the requirements for that is not to take ed as undergrad. but check them out. queens has a good program too.

Re: NWR- Advice going back to school
Well u can go to night school at CUNY school. U do not need a bachelors degree in education to teach in NYC. Call the board of ed and ask about their different programs where u can start teaching. and they'll help u get ur masters
