NWR: any elementary (specifically 1st grade) teachers on here?
I am looking to help a friend... I am a librarian.. so I have tons of resources.... but I need an idea based on curriculum... a friend of mine is doing a demo lesson..'implementing dbq's' in a 1st grade classroom... now I have more than enough dbq lesson plans for 3, 4, 5th graders.. vbut when it comes to 1st grade... not as easy :( any ideas?

i teach 1st grade.. where does she teach? because we dont do DBQs in first grade, though i do have a set of booklets in my class for first grade and i think its dbq's i dont have it now but i can try to look on monday.

doesn't teach anywhere YET--it's a demo lesson for a job.... and was told to do DBQ's and he's like WOW I've never used DBQ's in 1st grade.. only in 3rd 4th5th etc. any information you could give would be greatly appreciated thanks

yeah ive never heard of DBQs in first grade either... i can ask my colleagues for some info though. im student teaching in third grade right now... i know all of the teachers though.

What if she found a simple cartoon and asked a question about it? I can't think of any cartoons off hand but something simple.....like why is the dog sad? if it shows a dog waiting for its owner to get back.
This is tough.... why would they make her do a dbq for 1st!???? what district?

First grade dbqs? Hmm... I taught first my first year and there was no specific curriculum. Have her do something during reading. Usually there are three reading groups, A B and C, try the questions of the picture stories in al three? Let me think. Ill look at my old plans and see if I did anything specific...

Thanks for helping!!!!!!!! It's sort of a strange request... he is planning on doing it using a chart of graph of some sort as the 'document' .. even the teacher (whose class he will be demo-ing in) said we never do DBQ's I don't know why the principal told you to do that in 1st!!!
