DH and I just bought a place in Hoboken.. Out of Manhattan for us! We will probably move in Sept/Oct and was wondering if any of you guys lived out there...

not hoboken, but my sister lived in jersey city for a few years and went out to hoboken a couple of times... it's really up and coming i've heard with the real estate in manhattan becoming so outrageous.

FH and I just moved out of NYC 2 weeks ago to Upper Montclair, NJ, not too far away. One of my good friends is moving to Hoboken in August and we're planning to explore.... How did you decide to move?

Well, I have been living in Manhattan for the past 8 years-- and I am a little sick of it.. Being that I still work here-- I need to be close by for the commute-- no commuter trains for me! Anyway-- originally we were thinking about Brooklyn, but real estate is insane there.. so we ended up in Hoboken-- the commute is actually better than Brooklyn and you get more for your money-- and a lot of places come with a parking spot- I cannot wait to get a car! Especially after all the schlepping to LI for the wedding and stuff.
So-- that's that.. Our lease is up the end of Oct-- so, we figured it's now or never..

My FH lived in Hoboken until last year when he moved out to L.I. for me.

thanks-- it's not official yet-- and COB tomorrow-- our contract will be binding and we can proceed with the rest of the closing-- inspections, mortgage approval, etc.. let the stress begin!
But we are pretty pysched-- it's a great community..

I don't live in Hoboken, but live less than 5 min away.
Congratulations though, FH and I are in the process of buying a house, and will be closing 2 weeks from Friday. It's nervewracking and stressful to say the least, especially while planning a wedding!

I've lived in Hoboken for the past 2 years, my Fiance has lived here for 7 years. It's a great town and you'll have a lot of fun. Congrats on your new home...

Congrats! I've rented there since after I graduated college and me and FH just bought a place and we moved in April I hope you like it so far...FM if you need any info about anything!!
