HPV is the most common sexually transmitted disease. I learned that I had it in January 2005, about 5 months after I began dating FH. He was SO wonderful about it and obviously has stuck by me. I am sure that he has it now, also.
Any other ladies have it? I know it's a somewhat personal topic, yet like 90% of people out there have it (and tons who don't even know it) so I figured I'd bring it up and see who else is in the HPV club

I was under the impression that once you have HPV , you always have HPV, and u are always a 'carrier ' for it. And there is no cure, you might not have an outbreak for a long time , but you always have it . At least thats what my dr told me when I was diagnosed with it 2 years ago . I have a few strains , all i think from a cheating ex boyfriend , and unfortunatly one of the strains was pre cancerous cells , which i had removed already. I am ok now, but there was alot of shame , and I am lucky my FH is so understanding
Because there are no symptoms for some of the strains , you can potentially pass it on to your partner ( even though men are not affected by it unless its warts) .
I wish the shot was around when I was younger , and knowing then what I know now , I wouldn't have been so trusting

I've had it since Dec 2002. I got it from my high school boyfriend who cheated on me 11+ times (I didn't know about it until after the relationship was over).
My pap always comes up abnormal, but I have only had the warts when I was first diagnosed. The use a weak acid to burn them off and it's quite painful.

when i had an abnormal pap one year when i was like 21, my DR did the colposcopy and all was fine. NO new cells, no pre-cancerous cells, never again had an abnormal pap.
when he was explaining to me what HPV was, he said, 'your vagina has a cold.'

I got mine *I think* from an ex-boyfriend who had slept with at least 10 girls before me.
I did what I thought was the right thing and emailed my ex's after I learned I had it. The jerk ex of mine replied with, 'Oh, I just assumed you had it. I assumed everyone I slept with had it b/c it's so common.'
OKAY @SS, how about telling future partners of yours that YOU probably have it??? What a moron.

I know how you feel. The guy who gave it to me tried to blame it on me when he found out he had it. He called me up cursing saying that I was a b!tch and whatnot and how could I do this to him.
