I have my interview for the fellows program on Saturday and I am soooo nervous! I want to be accepted into the program so badly! Does anyone have any pointers for me? I'd really appreciate it! TIA!
P.S. - Keeping your fingers crossed for me would also be GREATLY appreciated!

Re: NWR: Any NYC Teaching Fellows?
It is important to know various assessments like Dibels and E-Clas. Response to Intervention is important too. Have an example of a lesson that you might teach in your head... sometimes on interviews they ask to describe a lesson you would do for Reading or something like that. Why do you think you'd be a good teacher? You will do great if you have some background. I think teaching fellows is when you have another degree other than education right? If thats the case, they are going to know that you dont have that much background in education.... but its good to show that you have been doing research. Good luck you'll do great!!!! Please tell us how it goes!!!

I would say one just be clear on why you want to and emphasize your committtment. I know in general that they have a hard time with folks sticking with teaching and their goal is to get you in long term - ITA that they won't expect you to know a lot of education stuff. . If you do have any education background I'm happy tosuggest some thing you might want to highlight but just be yourself!
if you want more info you can FM me - I am a teacher trainer and do teacher quality assessments all the time and went through Teach for america back in the day

Re: NWR: Any NYC Teaching Fellows?
They pay attention to your 5 min lesson. So practice it before hand and make sure you are always under 5 minutes but not by much. I say take a really easy topic ( i did bibliographies for books with one author) and explain it and model it. I brought in a chart and a book to model how i would write out the bibliography. It took me about 5 minutes to do that. Those are my tips. If you have any more questions FM me i went through the program 5 years ago.
