NWR: Any NYPD brides out there???

NWR: Any NYPD brides out there???

I just have a quick question:

Apparantly, I got a ticket about two months ago for parking in a 'no standing anytime' zone. Of course, I never got the ticket b/c it either flew away or (I think it was raining that day) 'melted' away...hehehehe.

Anyway, I got the notice in the mail yesterday, I have the information and such, and it turns out that I was not parked illegally, the sign was turned upside down and the arrow is pointing the wrong way!

So, my question is this:

Can I still plead not-guilty?

if the sign is still there take a picture of it and try and fight it..it may not be worth fighting b/c there is the chance you may not win.. you may have to take a day off of work to go down to fight it..it may be more cost effective to just pay the fine..i donno what the fine is..

BTW not an NYPD bride sorry

The whole 'plea' is that 1) I was not parked in the 'no standing anytime' zone b/c had I been parked there, there's a hydrant right there, and I would've received a ticket for both offenses. 2) The fine is $135!!!!!! No way in heck can I afford to pay that.

Thanks for your advice babydoll!

my FH is a cop (not NYPD), but he has always said... you should always try to fight it because the cops doesn't always show up which means it will be dismissed.

If the sign is still there and messed up... take a pic of it to bring it in. Otherwise, i would try to fight it. Most likely it will lower your fine and lower the points off your license. Worst case... you lose. I would try it if i were you!

I would try to fight it... it can't hurt if you could take the day off I would because right now any bride $135 is a lot of money... if the cop doesnt show up you automatically win =)

Fight the power.
Why not, right?
It seems tome like you got an edge on the situation so plead not guilty.

Good luck!

Hi!!! You know I am!!!! First, a parking violation DOES NOT put points on your license. The only thing that could happen, is if you let it go too long, and with the late fines, it accumulates to over $250, and they tow your car. Then they charge for impound fees, tow fees, and of course the summons, all before you get your car out.....

Go to the www.nyc.gov website, and they have a parking violations section. They give an address where you can plead not guilty and fight the ticket. If possible take a pic of the sign, so you have proof to back up your not guilty plea.... You might have to go to the traffic violations bureau, but no cop will EVER show up for a parker summons....

I hope I helped... If anything, you can always FM me...

nothing new from what the other girls said... but...

take a pic, include it with your paperwork and submit it.

sometimes it's better to do it in person.

Yeah, I wish it was given to me by a cop - one of my boys could've taken care of it! However, I got from a traffic cop/meter-maid...

I'm fighting it baby! Thanks!

It's still the same when traffic gives them out, definately fight it! If anything, the fine can get lowered, or even better, it get squashed!!!

FIGHT IT!! Take pictures. The same thing happened to my friend in VA and we took pictures of the parking spot from ALL angles and the judge threw out the ticket because it was obviously wrong.

Fight it - with pics if possible. I got a ticket for parking in a red zone but the sign was all painted (totally red) so nobody couled read it.

The only reason we even figured out why we got the ticket was a passerby told us that he got the same ticket weeks prior and the sign was painted over at that time too.

I never went to court but did the not guilty plea by mail. The 'offer' I got by mail was a reduced fine or risk a court date. I did not accept it and never heard another word about the ticket. I just did a search and have no unpaid tickets as of 4 weeks ago - well accept the THREE I got this week
