NWR: any other new homeowners stressed? VENT

Fh and I bought a house, last april we went to contract, didn't go to closing until this January... tons of issues with permits and C/o's... well.. We had planned to work on it all summer and be in the house by December since we are both teachers.... of course that didnt happen. Now its March.. the house has gone through its demolition phase.. but we have no bathroom or kitchen!!! It feels like their is no end in sight!! Its starting to really stress me out and I don't know what to do! We need a plumber and electrician to come and do the work so we can put the walls back up.. and order the kitchen cabinets.. Its just that planning the wedding and fixnig the house is really starting to get to me... I am starting to freak out that the house will not be ready in time... anyone else have this kind of stress!??!?! And FH, who gets irritated usually from the smallest things, doesnt even seem to mind that we have a gutted house right now!!! Why am I getting so upset!! Sorry.. really just wanted to vent!!!

We are in contract for our house and hopefully everything will go smoothly so we can close.

You'll get things done with spring break coming up and summer will be here soon!

Just when something goes right 3 more things will go wrong when buying or fixing a house! Don't I know it!! But believe me, when everything is all said and done you will forget all the drama and enjoy being a homeowner! It's a wonderful thing, but one of the hardest things in life. Don't worry it will all work out

im not going through this but a friend is. Her wedding is May 3rd so its right around the corner. She can only work on her kitchen and bathroom right now since there is so little time. Contractors are giving her a hard time and things were supposed to be done a few weeks ago. She is about the rip her hair out....her weekends are packed, pretty much at home depot and lowes OR at the house waiting 8 hours for verizon or appliances to come. and she cant clean up and get the house ready to live in until the contractors are done and everything is set. her plan was to have the 2 rooms done so she could concentrate on the wedding but she cant right now and its driving her up the wall. im sure she feels your pain. dont worry, there is an end in sight. good luck!

Thanks! The problem is, our contractor is FH's dad.. so its wonderful because we are saving a lot of money.. but.. we cant 'rush' him or give him a hard time!! trust me, I appreciate his work!! I just wish we could get things done quicker!! I guess this is the 'instant gratification problem of our generation' everyone has been talking about!!!

I know exactly what you mean. FH closed on our house at the end of December. Since then we have been stripping wallpaper, priming, contractors in and out....craziness. We have been forced to live entirely in our bedroom with our two dogs.

We feel super stressed because our wedding is in 44 days and it has to be completely done by then because his entire family is staying with us

welcome to my world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we bought our house in aug 2006, and it took 9 months to get our permits and varianes from the town!

Its now 3 months til the wedding, and its making progress and FH swears it will be done by the wedding, but its really stressful trying to build a house and plan a wedding at the exact same time!

Good Luck!

we just moved into our new house in Sept. I totally understand where you are coming from. I have so many things I want done like now but with saving for the wedding it seems like it is just too much money to be spending. FH says we can wait cause there is nothing wrong with our house ... i just want a new kitchen and master bathroom I also want to replace our fence with that white PVC fence cause I think it looks nicer but thats going to be a production

I think its great you are saving money by using your FH's dad. I totally know what you mean by wanting it done now. it will be done with soon enough though and then you can really enjoy your new home!
