I commute to jersey city from queens...Depending what part of li you live in, then the lirr to penn station wont take that long and from there you can take the E to chambers street and right across the street is the path, you jump on that for just one stop and you're there

DH did it from Bayside, Queens for about 6 months before we moved to Staten Island. He did LIRR to the 1/9 to the Path. Took about an hour and a half.
Once we moved to SI, he had to drive. Sometimes we would drive from Bayside, it would definately be better, but the tolls were insane.

My father does!
However, he leaves for work at 5:15 in the morning and leaves to come home usually by 2:30 or 3pm (and then works from home...)
The commute isn't bad in the morning b/c there aren't as many people on the road, but if he comes home anywhere near rush hour, it can take two hours. My parents live in W. Hempstead.
