nwr- anyone ever have kidney stones?

So..I was told I have crystals in my urine (I know I know TMI, but when you're in pain and discomfort, you really don't care anymore lol) and thats why I've been feeling like crap lately. Back and hip aches etc. But none of those classic kidney stone intense pain feelings...yet. I'm seeing my doctors and waiting for my abdomen ultrasound results...but I just wanted some info from people who've had a similar experience and not the pure cold medical interpretation that I'm getting.

Crystals don't HAVE to turn into a full blown kidney stone attack if you start using the treatment/prevention methods early (downing yourself in water, adding lemon juice for citric acid which is supposed to help break the crystals up so the doc says), right? Or am I just waiting to be in excruciating pain? Has anyone had crystals that didn't turn into a full blown painful attack?

I'm praying that they keep coming out like they've been because I haven't noticed other than the back hip and sometimes mild abdomen sharp pains...but it's not even as intense as full menstrual cramps would be.

Ahhhh...I feel like theres an alien in my body! Damn you Pepsi!!! Damn you!!!!

i had full blown kidney stones and they were the most painful thing in the world-im telling you the excrutiating pain of them moving is so unbearable- i couldnt move, it was absolutely terrible

they were big and one of my kidneys function went down to about 15% to the point that the drs were talking about dialysis= it was scary- but after surgerys stents and baths to break them up and remove them im finally better

hth?
good luck

I'm definitely not in excruciating pain...but that's what I'm terrified of. My BIL had an attack a few months ago and he was in the fetal position crying I'm hoping my situation is much milder but I'm getting anxious with anticipation! Was your attack sudden or had you been having pains for a while? You actually have to pee stones out??? Like for real??????

I had them once about 4 years ago. It was the worst pain I ever felt. My parents had to take me to the ER and I was there overnight. It started that I thought I had a UTI and the next thing I knew I was curled up on the floor in so much pain that I couldn't move.

i was in vegas when all of a sudden for like 2 days i was in so much pain. tears rolling down my face as i was trying to enjoy the buffet... seriously biting myself from the pain!!!

i refused to go to the dr there... out of network insurance would of been lots of money... for what i thought they couldnt do anything anyway- lol... so i let it pass and when i got home explained symptoms to dr and said that is probably what it was...

I get them all the time. At first they thought it was from my diet... but they're hereditary... my father's had them, my younger cousin gets them worse than me... basically everyone on my fathers side has had at least one (well the females have, and a few of the older males).
Drinking lots of water helps, but imo, not the way its made out to help... to me, it just helps you get rid of them faster. But whenever I have one.. I'm told to drink lots of gatorade. Water makes me vomit if I drink too much. The gatorade helps because it has electrolytes (whenever I say that I think of the movie 'idiocracy'

Do you know what kind of stones you could have (or crystals)
taken from wiki:
There are several types of kidney stones based on the type of crystals of which they consist. The majority are calcium oxalate stones, followed by calcium phosphate stones. More rarely, struvite stones are produced by urea-splitting bacteria in people with urinary tract infections, and people with certain metabolic abnormalities may produce uric acid stones or cystine stones.
---

Knowing what kind of stones you may have helps, you can alter your diet if you have calcium stones (thats what they thought i had at first).

i'll be frank- kidney stones SUCK! I dont' mean to scare you, but they really do hurt like hell...
My first two (had at the same time- i had a 7mm that went frist, with a 4mm following basically bouncing its way down) were the most painful... for them I was in the hospital.... but everyone since then, I've either gone to the dr and they gave me a pain killer.. or I've just dealt with... knock on wood, I haven't had one that big since.

I hope you don't have them... Good Luck and Feel better!
Get plenty of rest and drinks fluids.

They're the oxalate ones according to the urine test. I'm hoping the ultrasound shows that there are no large ones. I just had no idea whether if you had crystals that meant you have a big a$$ stone or that you HAVE to pass them painfully. Seems like what you're saying is that it doesn't necessarily have to be the excruciating pain people get? Ugh..It's really the anxiety of thinking each time I go to the bathroom I'mma be peeing boulders!
