go!!!!

it's sooooooooooo much cheaper to live there....seriously. i miss it...i love LI, but i miss the cheaper lifestyle!

they have $3 theatres playing NEW movies, a $600,000 house is a freaking mansion and it's over all just less expensive to live there...you make less $$$, but it doesn't even matter!

i had a nice [not fancy] 2 BR apt with 2 BA for $450 a month. i did not live in the ghetto. my most expensive apt. ever was $560. my mom paid $750 for a 3 story condo. ugh....why did DH neeeeeed to be near his family?

NOPE! I am moving there shortly, we are looking for new homes in kernersville outside ralaigh NC. I gotta get off this island!!!!! I did most of my research on the web and going down there after the wedding to look @ new home models. The TAXES ARE insanely cheap down there and luckily I have customers down there that I can get a job with a NY sal. I highly reccomend looking! Good luck!

Kernersville is no where near raleigh.

i grew up in winston-salem which is next to Kernersville.

another great small community is Clemmons. it's next to winston-salem as well. slightly pricer b/c it's rural and has a swanky community in it...also, a country club development turned 'town' is next to it... but ironically, that's where my super cheap apt. was!

*sigh* affordable housing....

i lived in charlotte and then asheville for awhile. it's very nice. you just have to pick the right areas. some are a little more...um....red...than others. but it's such a slower pace of life, and pretty great weather!

Yes, I lived in Raleigh for many years. Kernesville, is not near Raleigh.

Honestly, I don't miss it. I grew up near a big city all my life and except for the weather and the cheaper houses.... I was bored. That's why I moved to NY.

Depends on where you live and your personality. I went to school down there and loved my college but the town people were so pigheaded and redneck. They did not care for yankees. It has grown a lot in the last five years though so things can be different.

I definitely recommend moving to NC. I went to the University of North Carolina and LOVED it down there. You can also get a really nice house for very little $. And they have alot of job opportunities. FH and I plan to move down there in a few years. Go Tar Heelz!

Houses are SOOOOOOOOOO much cheaper!!! But, from personal experience, everyone is very laid back, so the slower paced life style is a little difficult to get used to....I spent a month there and wanted to shoot myself with the amount of time it took to get anything done..... driving, shopping, any interaction with a 'local' VERY VERY slow!!

JMO!!

One of my friends just relocated and is really happy. Yes, it's the south but, in areas like Charlotte and Raleigh, you'd be surprised how many New Yorkers you'll find!

My best friend went to school in Wilmington which is in the southern part of the state on the coast. It is beautiful there and not as cheap as it is further inland, but still considerably cheaper than here. I would love to live there, but DH's job and my job are pretty set for at least 20 years. Maybe for retirement, but we'll see. It is a much more relaxing lifestyle and if I could, I would do it. Good luck!

My FH grew up in Raleigh. He misses it so much. It's a differant lifestyle but the people are great. I debate moving there too...I'd like a slower pace of life.

but one of my friends 'plans' on moving down there when shes done with grad school. in HER opinion, its just like Long Island with worse pizza and bagels.
