NWR: anyone know of any apartments available?

I am in a really bad situation with a roommate who still owes 1 and a half months rent, and I just found out stole my identity to go shopping. I need to get the heck out, but I don't know where to go or how to make sure I get my money back. If anyone knows of any apartments available for either 1 or 2 people (looking to move in with FH) PLEASE help!

Sorry for this, but i am close to my wits end with 2L exams coming up and all this stuff

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

*** Update, my application was approved for Fairhaven Apartments!! I HAVE ANOTHER APARTMENT***

Try craigslist or maybe there are family members that you could stay with.

BY the way - I can't believe she stole your identity! How did you even find out?

Re: NWR: anyone know of any apartments available?

she decided to tell me that she opened credit cards in my name.

This is why I have to get out. She told me in March, but did it in August. I have been trying to get out since, but she owes me money that I need to be able to move

What towns are you looking in? I know i saw many in Craigslist. Look in the penny saver or yankee trader as well.

any, but I would prefer near a train station because I have to get to the city, and FH has to get to Farmingdale (where I currently live).

Why havent you had this person arrested for stealing your identity? If she's admitted to credit card fraud who knows what else she's done in your name. Also I wouldnt worry about getting your money back I would consider it gone and move on for your sake. I dont mean to sound harsh I know reading it it sounds that way but somethings you just need to learn from but I would so call and press charges on this creepy room mate. There are plenty of apts. listed in Massapequa in the Town Crier. I'd be happy to send you any info. from the next one that comes.

If you're a 2L, you're in law school....if you ask one of your profs to help you, I'm sure they will help you bust your roommate. That is insane!

As for apartments, try craigs list or go to your school's apartment listings. What school do you attend?

I was told by the police that it would be hard to convict her because its an oral confession, not written, even though there are several hearsay exemptions that it qualifies under, they said it would be really hard, and the credit card companies would not go after her. I called the police and spoke to them, and my teachers and my employer, and they all said its complicated.

But if she signed your name to them? That's forgery.

Re: NWR: anyone know of any apartments available?

first they would have to prove its her. I have a lot of circumstantial evidence, like linked to her email, her confession, sent to our address, but nothing that they said was concrete enough. She is supposed to give me the 1k in backrent this week, if she doesnt, its a whole new ballgame. I just want out

Well good luck and I hope it all turns out for you.
I would also contact the credit card companies and cancel the cards.

already did. I found out about them through a fluke when they first opened up, but had no idea who had opened them. I canceled them within 2-3 weeks of their being opened, and have letters from all the credit companies stating that they were canceled and I was not responsible for the payments. Also had a watch put on my credit report by getting an FTC and police report.
