Does anyone know if a company sends a person home for fear they may be contagious if the company is responsible to pay the worker for the days they are out? Especially if the employee has no sick time left.
This is SUPER important!

Re: NWR: Anyone work in HR?
I am not in HR, but I would think if you are sent home SICK then you would be charged SICK days. Is there other time available like personal, vacation or floating holidays?

Re: NWR: Anyone work in HR?
I dont think there are any other options available.
It is not confirmed that she is sick but she was exposed to someone who had a rash and thinks she may have it as well. But she cant get n appointment to her doctor until thursday and she is new to her company so she does not have any days available.
I want to say that since the comapny is the one making the call to send her home...they are responsible for paying her. I dont know

Re: NWR: Anyone work in HR?
I don't think so especially since she is a new employee. My office has a 30 day probabtion period and you don't get paid for holidays and such during that time. This is a similar situation.
Maybe she can borrow them and pay it back if she is not there long enough to earn any?
ETA: She was exposed to what kind of illness? If it's possible she is contagious and can spread what ever this is to other employees, I think the company has a responsibility to protect the other employees.
Can she go to one of those walk in clinics for a diagnosis? DH has been to First Med a couple of times and never had any problems with them. Three days is a long time to wait if it may be for no reason.

Considering she is a new employee, it does not matter that he Employer is sending her home...They are not entitled to pay her for her time out. You have to send the person home though bc you do not know whether she is contagious or not!

I work in HR - Unfortuantely paid time off is a benefit not a right and even if they send her home it can be unpaid.
