Ugh, Im so annoyed. Why are people so freaking biased when it comes to pets/dogs? I am trying to find a 2 BDRM apt for me, my hubby and dog and its next to impossible. Every ad I see says pet friendly or pets ok and then when I speak to someone its a totally different story. Either A)they dont take pets or B) No large dogs!! Listen, I am a total animal lover, I LOOOOVE dogs, BUT do these landlords understand that the little dogs are the ones who YAP and dont shut up! Do they realize that the smaller the dog the less likley they are to go outside and they use those wee-wee pad things and probably miss, pee on the floor or even disolve through the paper and and up making a bigger mess. Again, I love animals but this is ridiculous!

Good luck with finding something! Where are you looking? When I lived in Manhattan, I got incredibly lucky with a really nice super who didn’t mind that we got a brand new puppy.

awwww i am sorry you are going through this ~ but I really don't think it has to do with the dog ~ every pet parent is different & the irrisponsible pet parents are the ones that make it difficult for the good pet parents - I know I have 4 chichuahuas (who do go inside and beleive it or not they are not yappy) it is just trying to find the right match - be patient! you will find something... good luck!

You will find it it.. I found my last one through word of mouth.. Also try craigslist when searching for an apt. Avoid paying brokers fee, and if you have to use a broker bargin down their fee.. Ih ate the fact they don't do jack sh*t and they get what is it sometimes $1200 for finding you a hole in the wall that might not even work out.. where are you looking?

Re: NWR-Apartment/Pet VENT
I live in a Heatherwood complex and they allow dogs. I think you have to give an extra security deposit though. They have several complexes across long island. Google them, they have a website.

Re: NWR-Apartment/Pet VENT
I wish you could move downstairs from me. Our downstairs neighbor has one of those little yippy dogs that NEVER shuts up. Our contract said no pets but the landlord never comes around so we have 2 cats and the people downstairs have 2 dogs. So maybe you can look for a place with an absentee landlord. As long as you pay on time they leave you alone. Good luck.

i HEAR that ... it was the same when we were looking for an apt. we have a cat ... how much damage can a cat REALLY do? And I was always willing to put down a larger security deposit

Re: NWR-Apartment/Pet VENT
Its so annoying! The complexes where I live in have these HUGE empty yards and now they dont allow pets. They used to but changed their stance on it probably because some jerks just wont clean up their messes. Ive been hiding a cat for almost 3 years now. Shes quiet and well-behaved but were still not allowed to have her. Everytime our landlady sees her, we tell her we're cat-sitting lol. Im sure she knows the truth by now.

i agree its hard to find it but dont blame the small dogs. i have a jack russel and he has had an accident inside maybe 3 times the whole time i've had him and thats because either fh or i didnt take him out right away. he doesnt bark ever either. so yeah. dont be hatin on small dogs
