I know it isn't on LI, but we go to Maskers upstate (it's about 2 hours) and it is such a beautiful farm! they have the biggest apple orchard I've ever seen, games for the kids, hot pies, little hay rides, etc. Totally worth the trip... DH and I are going on Saturday!

lewins is where i go as well but apples is pretty much over. i think they say apples are end of aug to begining of oct the latest but i went 2 weeks ago (sat will be 3) and you really had to work to find goo ones! and mostly green ones. (my personal fave) but the red apples seemed overripe! i do go there for pumpkins as well they usually have a fill a bag deal for a cheap price!!

Wickham Farms in Cutchogue. Drive to Tanger (via LIE exit 73) and then just keep driving for about a half hour. We went on Saturday and they had a wagon ride to the orchard, pumpkins, applies, cider, donuts, jam, honey. And then on the way back, there are a bunch of other farms selling sweet corn and have cows and crafts and mums.

Re: NWR: apple and pumpkin picking
We went to Lewin's on Saturday and they have the BEST pumpkins this season! We were too tired after the outlets AND pumpkin picking to go apple picking too. We went to the store there and bought fresh candy apples and decorations though.
