So, I got a little card in the mail a while ago reminding me that it's time for my next gyno check up... so I call today to make an appointment, and the doctor is booked until SEPTEMBER! What?!?!
Unbelievable. The couldn't even give me an appointment with the nurse practitioner until June. That's absolutely insane. I've been going to this office for a year now, and I've never met my actual doctor because she's impossible to get an appointment with... I've only seen the nurse practitioner. Plus, every time I go I end up sitting and waiting for at least an hour. This place is awful.
I'd switch but they all seem to be the same anyway... plus it's a part of a medical group, and I like the rest of the group and my gp in the group, and it makes it a lot easier for me and for them that they have all of my information for all of my appointments (like, ever) in their computer. It's still just unbelievable though.
(edited for typos... I'm tired today)

Thats nuts.I love my group, and never wait more than 10 minutes. Too bad you like them soo much, otherwise I'd say seek elsewhere.

ug, I honestly might seek elsewhere anyway, just to see... if it wasn't too far from my house.
Would it be stupid to see a gyno in one group and a gp in another? probably, right?

Screw that I would switch, unless you are in LOVE with them, it's not worth it to wait that long to see someone. I go to All Island OBGYN (On Stewart Ave in Garden City) and have been for the last 10+ years. They saved my friends life when she was younger and since then, I am their biggest fan.

Yup. She kept having problems for years, went to 3 other doctors who found nothing. She let it go and in her heart felt something was wrong, someone recommended All Island to her. When she went there, they found a tumor the size of a lemon and got it out just in time. Don't know how someone would miss that, but it scared the hell out of me.

oh my goodness! that must have been terrifying! How do the doctors miss that? Wouldn't her symptoms point to a need to scan for that?
That's what kind of scares me about going to doctors... it seems like most of the time they just scan over you really quickly and give you the easiest answer and tell you to 'come back if it doesn't get better.' I hate that!

Re: nwr: are they f-ing kidding?!?!
My Dr's similar... i have to call beginning of July to make my annual apt. in October.
But I absolutely love her, even though tis 45 mins away, she's friends with my cousin and i totally trust her. She's the dr. for every woman inmy family too, so she knows the history, lol.
I think its really hard to switch drs, takes a while to get comfy, and when they're checking out those super personal areas, yeah....

I never have to wait more than a month. I just rescheduled mine for the 3rd time (i'm bad) but they gave me an end of May appt.
They are in Bellmore and I have been going there for 20 years. I would be happy to refer.

I go to All Island too! They are wonderful. I only see the Doctor (Dr. Braverman) if there is an issue. I ususally see the Practicioners which are excellent, particulary Karen. It is very easy to get an appointment with them.
If you're interested their number is 516-227-3333

really? I've never had that problem there, I can usually get an appointment within a few weeks. It used to be like that when I went to a practice in Huntington.
