Do you need to download a program onto the phone so you can get the internet or your mail

you should have the program already, as long as you signed up for an internet plan.

yep, you have to add a blackberry plan to your regular phone plan.

Just have them add the plan for you. Usually about $20 additional. But I had issues getting online when I got my BB Curve and had to spend about 60minutes on the phone with them. Works so well now though!!
